This can be a place where we post updates about who is doing draft workouts for us.
Edit: I decided to put all updates on this google docs page. I think this way its the most clear way to make it work.
https://goo.gl/rmkblk
Update (6-21-16): here's the new doc with only guys remaining in the draft, as well as their rank. https://goo.gl/5Ci35t

My guess is that given the plethora of picks the Celtics have and the fact they are scattered all across both rounds of the draft, that the Celtics might be working out just about every singe one of the top 60 prospects in the draft.
This could be a long thread!
-
One of the best threads on here.
OP, can you keep it active and put all updates on the first entry? It makes it either to navigate.

I'll try to stay as updated as possible and, yes I'll update the first entry. It'd probably help if the mods sticky the thread in the Draft section, too

Thanks, man.

I'm really excited to start hearing who we are working out.
They are going to have to hold a million of these workouts to cover every prospects that should be around when the C's pick. It will be fun to read all these names.
-
I will be interested to see how many foreign players come across the sea to do workouts for teams and which of those players the Celtics decide to work out and which they don't. With as many picks as the Celtics have, it seems that Danny might have to go against what looks like a pattern of avoiding foreign players and use some of these picks to draft and stash some players.

Definitely.
Jaron Blossomgame looks decent numbers wise as a 3 and D guy.
6-7/220 lb
FG 51.3
FT 78.2
3PT 44.6
PPG 18.7
BPG 1.3

Warney and Finley-Smith should do well in any work outs

I have done this the past few years and I glad someone else wants to take this over, turns into a lot of work and I always felt obligated to stay up with it.
I like that the Cs are working out blossomgame he is the potential 3-D type that can be a 2nd round steal.

Im happy to help! I'll do my best to keep up with the reports coming in, but I might not get everything immediately. I have school, so if others find out stuff before me they can like PM me or post it here or something, and I can update the first post for y'all once I'm free.

Gary Payton III impressed me in the tournament. Built like a tank. Could be a defense guard similar to Smart. I'd take him with one of the 2nd rounders.
With all these picks, hopefully the Cs workout a bunch of these guys.

TP for maintaining this. Also, a suggestion: the list of names might get quite long. It might make it easier at the top to just have workout dates and the players beneath them, and leave the documentation in the thread, so that people can easily reference at the beginning of the thread.

That's a good idea, thanks. I'm on my phone now but when I get home on my computer I'll fix it up a bit.
-
Peter Jok looks to be testing out interest but from what I've read seems likely to return to Iowa for another year.
-
So all three of these early-look players are in the SG/SF scoring wing mold. All three have decent outside shots.
Blossomgame looks the most versatile and developed offensively, which both inside and outside scoring skills. And a very good rebounder.
Jalen Moore looks like a good shooter, but looks like he needs someone to facilitate his shots. But he has awesome hair. How could you not want that on the team? Love it! Perfect fit in with Jae, Kelly, Marcus & Sully's 'dos.

Adam Zagoria:
Former Stony Brook big man @Fullcoursemeelz Jameel Warney works out for the Celtics Wednesday and the Bucks May 18th, he tells @SNYtv

Just wanted to give a heads up, I decided to make a table on google docs, this way itll be easier for me to post updates and easier to read too. Whenever I add new names to the doc, ill make a post letting you guys know I've updated it.
The doc is on the first post.
-
Update: it appears Isaiah Miles (Saint Joseph's) could be in Boston for a workout:
Isaiah Miles talks w/ @LesleyCBS3 at 5 pm about his invites to the NBA Combine & team workouts. He's in Boston today
The link to the source is in the updated Google doc on the first page.
Also, Alec Peters (Valparaiso) will be working out on Friday. Also on the doc
-
Also some cool tidbits here: http://www.csnne.com/boston-celtics/celtics-begin-working-out-draft-prospects-wednesday
No names are mentioned but we could see close to 100 players working out!!

Absolutely, they should be working out everyone who has a chance of being drafted. It's really going to test their scouting team.
Just a thought, how difficult is it to trade a 2nd round pick for a future 2nd round pick? That seems to be the best course of action as the Celtics have way too many 2nd rounders. I would think it would be easy kind of like it's not difficult for an NFL team to trade a current year's 5th, 4th, 3rd for a future 4th, 3rd, 2nd. In basketball, just give us a future 2nd for a current 2nd as we have too many picks and a current pick should help your current GM.

Thankful for this thread, it is a good idea.

Scratch the above good idea with the google doc
-
Last year I did this post by updating the first post it made for an easy to read list
I was planning on doing that actually, but given the sheet amount of players we are gonna workout, i felt it would be an incredibly long first post. If there is more support for it, though, i can definitely try doing both ways
-
I think it would also be good to note if players have follow-up workouts. From my memory I believe Rozier had more than one. It can possibly indicate who Danny is high on
-
One early observation this first group is full of shooter with the exception of Warney
-
Need a guy called Blossomgame. Don't care what the stats are..
Seriously TP for the thread, those second round picks promise to be VELLY interesting

Terry Rozier apparently crushed his workout last year which propped him up about 10-15 spots depending on who you believe. Wonder who's going to kill it this year?
Malik Beasley?
Dejuonte Murray?
Melo Trimble?
Wayne Seldon?

Think any one of these guys could become rotation players in the right situation.
Add Diamond Stone to that list. He's going to play in the NBA for 10 years. No idea if he'll be great or not, but he'll be on a roster forever.
-
Updated. Malik Pope is working out for us! I like this kid as a second rounder

Name suggests toughness combined with a polished game. ;D Many mocks have him mid-second. Don't know about that...
Also, really excited to see Malik Pope get a run. Didn't watch any San Diego games this year, but I assume he had some problems. Guy looked like a kind of Rudy Gay with pop two years ago.

Chad ford was extremely high on him for awhile, had him (inexplicably) in the lottery last year before pope decided to go back to sdsu

I love George's-Hunt.

TP, alldaboston. This is going to be an invaluable asset over the next two months.

A couple of new names have been added yesterday and today.
Tp!
Just checked out the additions to the list. I loved Pope last year, and don't understand why he didn't really improve. His length though could make him a high upside pick in the 2nd if we have the roster space.
-
Thanks guys! I'm just happy to help!
-
A couple of new names have been added yesterday and today.
and who were they? it is fair to ask that if you mentioned such additions it is worth listing their names.
thanks.

I'm keeping a Google doc where I put all the players we are working out. It's linked on the first post and in my sig
-
A couple of new names have come out. I've updated the doc.
Amida Brimah in particular is interesting. Isn't a scoring big by any means but he's a good shot blocker.
-
Derrick Jones has huge upside. Good option in the 2nd round.
-
Since I live in Idaho I've been intrigued with Boise State's Webb. 6'9, lean and long athlete. Shot well from 3 last year but really dropped off this year. Seems like a good late 2nd pick.
-
No one so far really intrigues me. I want to see some of the first round talent start to get looks. So far they seem to be concentrating on second round talent.
-

Maybe they have deals in place for their 1st rounders... jk
-
I think they're all focused on the combine right now. We'll see the 1st rounders in the coming weeks after the combine.
-
Hi guys. Been a little busy so wasn't able to update this but it seems we didn't get any updates on workouts until today's Combine. I've updated the doc with new names. If I've missed any names please let me know!
-
Updated. We have a tentative workout with Brandon Ingram (based on lottery results).
Updated doc in my sig
-
Glad to see Jake Layman, almost impossible not to draw a Chandler Parsons comp with him. Like the idea of having an SF who can get his shot off with a high release point. Some are saying that he was underutilized at Maryland the past 2 years.
Amida Brimah and Chinanu Onuaku are 2 names that stick out for me. Even offensive clinics like the Warriors and Spurs typically try to have a guy or 2 on the roster who can muck thing's up. Brimah seems like he can switch on the pick and roll well too.
It'll be fascinating to see where Malik Pope goes, his ceiling would probably be a role similar to modern day Sean Livingston. Former top tier athlete who can still get his shot off on smaller and less talented players despite the drop in athletic ability caused by his injuries.
-
When can the Celts start interviewing/workout Simmons, D Murray and Sabonis?
-
I would think that after the lottery drawing, top prospects will start scheduling interviews and private workouts with teams based on where they're drafting.

I really like the prospect of Onuako as a perk like glue guy center. Not a center who I ever expect to put up big stats but has solid size, great mobility, and seems to have solid IQ.

We need to get this kid in for a workout.
Joel Bolomboy

I think he could replace what Sully brought to the table as he was a great rebounder. I think he could be a sleeper.

He's a Wrentham, MA kid, too (King Philip Regional High). His younger brother went to prep school as a junior this year, and his youngest brother played varsity as a freshman for KP (also this year).

Onuako, he is actually younger then diallo by a month despite being a soph. While not as mobile or as athletic he taller with a much thicker stronger frame and great length. Looking over the years of measurements for diallo I have my doubts that he ever put in the weight to really defend on the block.
-
Hey guys. 2 new names are working out for us. Updated doc.

Diallo has been added to the doc.
Credit (and TP) to TwinTower14 for posting about it in another thread:

Would be so amazing to get Malik Pope on a 5 year deal in the 2nd round like Mickey.
-
Hi guys, some new names have been added to the doc.
itll be interesting to see the bigger names coming to our workouts now that we know where we will be picking in the lottery. I doubt we get individual workouts with Simmons and Ingram (especially simmons, he didnt show up at the lottery tonight, but ingram did), since theyll likely be working out with philly and LA only
-
We got 2 groups of workouts today.
I've updated the doc with those names, although most of the names had previously been reported.
The full 2 groups are linked in the doc.
-

I bet Danny likes bentil over pope. Bentil can really shoot the ball
-

Mickey is on a 4-year deal. Can't do more than that.

Does anyone else think that Bender's skill set is too similar to Olynyk's? This would result in redundancy, assuming Olynyk is part of the team going forward.

6'6 G/F Perrin Buford will workout for the Boston Celtics Saturday May 21st

I think Danny said something along the lines of how agents didn't schedule lottery workouts yet due to the fact that the order wasn't certain yet. But now that we got the order down I'd expect more lottery guys to work out with us soon.

This might cause this to slip, though.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville sophomore center/forward Chinanu Onuaku will have a medical procedure to correct a heart rhythm issue detected during physicals conducted at last week's NBA combine in Chicago.
he 6-foot-10 Onuaku says in a release that NBA doctors noticed a condition called Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. He describes the procedure in Chicago as "minor" and will be sidelined for seven to 10 days but adds that afterward, "I will be ready to start workouts again in pursuit of my NBA dreams."

Hi guys. I updated the doc with some new names. Lesser known guys (I'd never heard their names before) but, hey, maybe they're hidden gems
-
Wiltjer's an interesting one, had a great college career, but scouts are wary that his lack of athleticism will be exposed in the NBA. A less athletic Ryan Anderson if you will.

Is it just me or does it look like Boston is only working out second rounders with the two exceptions being Brown and Bender? Makes me think theyll be trying to trade #16 and 23. Could be they go bender #3 and trade back into the lottery with #s 16 and 23 and take Brown.

I'd be ok with Bender+Brown take away from this year's draft.

I was just thinking the list looked weird too. Danny did say something about just about every guy from 1 to 60 will get a workout though..
Many Euro guys are still playing (anadolu efes won game 3 on saturday to advance to finals of Turkish league - Korkmaz quiet with only handful of minutes and 3 points. EDIT: Efes beat a team called Darussafaka Dogus for whom Semih Erden lead all scorers with 23, and got a handy contribution from.....Luke Harangody), and mid-first dudes might be choosy about going to teams where they will get a chance.. Like to think Davis, Valentine, Jones, Chriss, Brice J will get a decent look. And maybe Poetl or Sabonis drops to 16.

I think there are also workouts happening that we dont know about too. Like, they arent being reported or leaked by people. We might hear about them maybe weeks after they've already worked out.
(unless im not looking in the right places lol)

I thought it was funny that Brown is working out with each top 10 lottery team except the Kings.
He doesn't have an agent and is mentored by Isiah Thomas (Detroit lwgend) and Shareef Abdul Raheem. So it's either them or the kid himself who have decided to boycott the Kings lol.

Jaylen Brown reportedly part of this morning's Celtics workout. Uber-athletic Cal swingman will be in consideration with the No. 3 pick.
and this:
The guy is a beast. Doesn't settle for outside shots. He's strong in traffic and gets to the hole while taking damage.

Not only did Shareef finish his career with the Kings, but he was a member of their front office as well.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shareef_Abdur-Rahim#Sacramento_Kings
On October 7, 2010 Abdur-Rahim was hired to be the assistant general manager for the Sacramento Kings. He later became the team's director of player personnel, a position he held in 2014 after new ownership had taken over in 2013.[17] Abdur-Rahim left the team in September 2014.[18] League sources would later report his departure occurred after the 2014 NBA Draft, where Abdur-Rahim had arguments with coach Mike Malone and general manager Pete D'Alessandro.[19]

The guy is a beast. Doesn't settle for outside shots. He's strong in traffic and gets to the hole while taking damage.

Yep, he's working out for us today.
But I have to disagree with the bold. He doesn't take outside shots because he's absolutely a horrible shooter. And he's reckless at times when driving to the rim. Doesn't have a ton of bball IQ from what I've seen. Seems like an athlete, not exactly a basketball player.
Personally not a fan.

Is it just me or does it look like Boston is only working out second rounders with the two exceptions being Brown and Bender? Makes me think theyll be trying to trade #16 and 23. Could be they go bender #3 and trade back into the lottery with #s 16 and 23 and take Brown.
During their European (& Israel) travels last week they scouted both Zizic (possible #23) and Korkmaz (possible #16), in addition to Bender. Possibly others.

Draft is 3 Weeks from tomorrow...Need the finals to be over, so the Real Rumors can get started-!
-
Hi guys.
Some new names are in the doc.
Side note: Danny said Jaylen Brown was impressive in his workout. But in the link for Danuel House, it reports that House really took it to Brown. Might be posturing from Danny to raise the value of the pick.
-
Need a guy called Blossomgame. Don't care what the stats are..
Seriously TP for the thread, those second round picks promise to be VELLY interesting
Ah, Johnny Most would have loved this guys name!!!

Isaia Cordinier worked out with Sixers today. To work out with Hawks tomorrow, Celtics, Raptors and Pelicans.
Great athlete. Very young and raw. Needs to fill out, but could be a potential Celtic with a draft and stash. The comparison I've heard is Lavine.
-
Anyone know when we are working out Hield?
-
What is going on with luwawu. Heard nothing about him anywhere
House? What is the bio on him
-
Hi guys.
We have a large workout today in Boston. I've updated the doc.
Also, Bender's team was eliminated from the playoffs. He should be here soon for his workouts.
-

He seems to be another wild card no one is quite sure about. I've seen him mocked as the #10 pick to not even being in the 1st (Chad Ford's latest. And Ford loves the Intl' players)

None of those guys are sure fire first round picks. I want to know when they are going to start working out potential top 3 picks other than Brown. I'd like to hear that they brought in Murray, Hield, and Chriss sometime soon.

Yeah same. To be honest, I haven't heard of most of the guys we have worked out thus far.

David Pick @IAmDPick
Source: Dragan Bender has NBA workouts scheduled in US with Celtics, Suns, Twolves.
So this matches the following, which was a few days ago:
Adam Himmelsbach
Hearing that Dragan Bender will probably work out for just 3 NBA teams when he gets to the U.S. Celtics still likely to be one of them.
-
Time for a 4/13 and 3/16 swap when Phoenix falls in love. Then try to move into the top 10 again.
-
Still no workout for Maker? Surely we take him at 16 if he is still there?? (Although I'm high on Deyonta and Korkmaz)
-
Marc Spears
Greek 7-2, 275 pound center Georgios Papagiannis is working out for Suns today & has workouts with the Celtics, Bulls and Pistons up next.

He'll definitely be there at #16, and we definitely won't take him there. #23 could be an option, but I don't think Danny will even consider him until the 2nd round
-
The problem with Maker is he's a few years from being a few years away, but he's also probably not a draft and stash possibility.
He needs to go to a team with lots of roster spots and plenty of patience. But at the same time, if he ends up on the Sixers or the Lakers or something, he probably won't develop at all. He'll be overseas in two years.
-
Read that we worked out Isaiah Taylor before. He could be a summer league steal kind of a guy. Elite, elite quickness, ball-handling and defense. Few players can get to any spot on the floor like him. No semblance of a jump shot though.
-

So Cheick Diallo and Dyshawn Pierre are getting two workouts? Hmmmm...

Diallo and Deshawn Pierre are getting two workouts? Hmmmm...
Oh sorry I messed that up, with Pierre. I didn't see I already had him on the list. He should only be there once.
Also, they're not getting 2 workouts. I think I made the doc a little unclear. It's just, when I put them in the doc, I'm putting them in by the order that I saw the news (normally the same day it's reported). It's not sorted by actual workout date (which would probably be better, in hindsight). Maybe I'll do that for next year, if I decide to do this again next season.
-

Or just take Bender at 3, which would be my preference.
-
Diallo and Jamal Murray working out today. Love those two guys. Diallo can be an elite shot blocker and defensive presence, and I simply cannot see Jamal Murray failing in the NBA with that combination of talent, work ethic and youth.
Murray is the pick at 3 (even the Sixers love him!).

Rather keep 13 and 23 than use 13 and 23 to move up to like 10 or whatever. 13 spot is as good as 10 in this draft. (unless Danny is a Poetl guy) (hoping for Zizic at 23) (This draft is stash heaven compared to many drafts, and happens in a year we have a lot of picks)
I admire your courage in supporting Bender. He's still high in the world of professional mocks, but on Celtics blog he's down around pick 9 or something. I think Bender will have a good career. Better than Olynyck. I don't trust that he's going to ever be much on offense, but I think he's going to be appreciated by whatever team takes him. He absolutely belongs next to Drummond, or Cousins, or Marc Gasol, etc... In a small ball lineup I guess you could have someone like Draymond, Bass, hopefully Mickey, ZBo, etc...at center next to him. Other guys at center next to him: Favors, Biyombo, DeAndre Jordan.... If you try to do anything with Bender down low in the next 5 years you'll get creamed imo. He's not half as strong as Porzingis. Not yet. So keep him outside and I think he'll do a decent job and help his team with IQ. I can picture him between Lebron and Tristian Thompon if he could be fast forwarded a few years. I think the Celtics are not going to draft him less because of the risk (not such a big risk) but more because of the wait. I think they want
1. A trade. Or
2. A guy ready to defend NBA players from day 1 and/or fill up the bucket.
So if keeping I think they'll take in order of likelihood: Dunn (trading current guard on draft night), Murray, Brown, Hield.
all my 2 cents..
(if they take Chriss at 3 I'll suspect a big or small trade with Sac. Town and #8 following)
-

So Cheick Diallo and Dyshawn Pierre are getting two workouts? Hmmmm...
Did Diallo work out with us twice? I thought this at first but if you check the first link in the spreadsheet for Diallo it just says he plans to work out for the Celtics, not that he had a work out scheduled. I believe this is the first time he's working out with us.
I'm completely on board if he is available at 23.

I'm really glad they are starting to work out the guys that they should consider with the 3rd and 16th pick. Other than Brown they haven't worked out many top 16 level players.
Apparently Murray shot the lights out

Jamal Murray said he made 79 of 100 threes in part of Cs workout, breaking record of 77.

Does anyone know if it's realistic at all to have both Murray and Hield and maybe Jaylen also do a joint workout for the Celts?
I know if I were the Celts I'd want to see one on one, two on two, and three on three.

This is a pretty good strategy by Bender's agent. If he kills it in workouts right before the draft it'll be fresher in Ainge's mind than a good workout by Brown a month ago.
It also gives Bender time to practice the drills they will probably run during NBA workouts.
-

You're much more generous than I am. If they want 3, they're giving up 4 and 13. I would maybe consider giving them 23, but it would more likely be something in the second round. Then use 13 and 16 to trade up.

Well, he also has some plans to workout for Phoenix and Minnesota, I believe, so I'm curious as to how the workouts are broken down. The Boston one could be the last one since he'll then be fairly close to Brooklyn for the draft.

Brown would be the only one to show up because he doesn't have an agent. It is actually a very interesting take on the draft process and one that actually endures him to me. He has advisors but no agent. Once drafted his contract is set by the CBA so kind of like selling your own house why both with an agent. This seems like an intelligent take n the process by a kid who is reported to be very smart.
-
What i like about Brown is that he is not scared. He challenged simmons or ingram to 1 on 1 ball.
Celtics asked him to play against house (3-4years older) and no problem.
He knows he is going in the top 8 and could include restrictions in his workouts. But has not
Warrior spirit

I think the verdict is still out on that. A lot of agents discount the rookie contract fee because there is less negotiating. Having an agent may also help a player get selected earlier in the draft, as the player now has someone to lobby on his behalf. Furthermore, agents don't only negotiate contracts. If a dispute arises between player and team, the agent can act as a go-between, so that the player can focus on basketball and not a labor issue.
It may work fine for him, but he may also regret it. Only the future knows.

Ha, ha, ha... Who can believe anything these days before the draft?
Right now I have no good idea whom Danny will draft, or trade for.
My guesses, and I mean guesses, if he drafts are -
Bender
Dunn
Brown
Maybe Murray
A trade? Maybe butler, definitely not okafor. But maybe someone else.
I simply am lost at this point. When is the draft again? ;D

Same w/ Smart, who worked out for his second time during draft week, unlike Julius Randle, who turned down a 2nd workout to do an interview with GQ, which sealed the deal for Smart

Past evidence seems to suggest that we've zeroed in on Jaylen Brown, who I think has the second highest upside in the draft after Simmons

Alldaboston, you have done a great job with this list this draft season. It has been great not being the one searching all over Twitter for this information and instead just checking for Google doc. I would like to suggest that as a final pre draft use of your Intel you list you create a revised list without the plays who went back to college and ranking the players per fords big board. Doing this in the head quickly it gives a very interesting picture who the Cs are likely targeting at 16,23 and the early 30s. Barring a trade it would appear they like Murray/brown/bender at 3, are hoping labbissiere/ Sabonis are available at 16 and a euro at 23 but you have more names then that falling into the 16-35 rangw

Thanks CFAN! It wasn't just me though, a lot of the other posters helped out and reported stuff that I hadn't seen, so major props to them too.
That's a great idea too, I think I'll have some free time this week since school is finally out and I've got nothing else to do. So you're saying, ranking all the guys we worked out by Ford's rankings?

Yeah if you reference the Chad Ford Yier thread break the players out into his tiers.

I want AJ Hammons so bad with the #31 pick. I fear Spurs will draft him and become he'll their poor mans Duncan.
-
I believe AJ Hammons will be a solid starter in this league from day one.

I want Anthony 'Cat' Barber with #45 if he's there. Going to be a very, very good NBA player in my opinion, could be another Isaiah Thomas.
We just brought him in for a workout too..

interesting player in terms of offense. but his passing is weak according to DX. he prefers to take shots himself instead of passing. not fatal as long as he is willing to learn under CBS.
as a project and talent he would be worth a second round pick. but it might be best if he played somewhere else for a year or two to develop, ala thornton did.

great job, with the list.
I'm not surprised to see Seldon in for a workout. I really think we see him drafted by the Cs. I brought this up in a post in the past. Last draft it was widely reported that the Cs #16 pick was a debate between Rozier and J Anderson with Rozier winning out because the Cs had him ranked a tier above. Barring a trade it would appear they like Murray/brown/bender at 3, are hoping labbissiere/ Sabonis are available at 16 and a euro at 23 but you have more names then that falling into the 16-35 rangw
hey CFAN (and others, of course). just updated the current doc with draft status of players. currently working on the new doc which will have the players rank (per chad ford's top 100 ranking) and the players draft tier (also per chad ford). special thanks to Eddie20 for supplying the draft tiers information!
great job, with the list.
In Wayne Seldon I think the Cs find a lot of the same skills Anderson possesses.

TP...good comparison to JA, the guy I wanted us to pick last year. Selden seems a little thicker/stronger though and JA a little more explosive.
I've liked Selden since both he and Wiggins were at Kansas at the same time, and he was rated pretty highly then as a recruit and even in the early part of the college season in the mock drafts. Plus he's a local boy that I've always rooted for. (Would be nice to have Selden, Layman and Noel as the local guys around here.)
Selden is a real tough, strong, tenacious kid who would fit right into Stevens' defensivesystem. Just wish that he shot a little better.

Will we ever get any solid intel on Bender's workouts this week?
-
Who knows how Jaylen Brown his 2nd workout went? Didn't he work out yesterday for the 2nd time?

Hey guys. I finished the new doc which has the guys who stayed in the draft, as well as their ranks by Chad Ford. Here it is: https://goo.gl/5Ci35t it'll also be in my sig and I'll update the first post.

Will we ever get any solid intel on Bender's workouts this week?
Probably not, UNLESS we actually use the pick and draft him. In which case, Danny and Brad will describe a fantastic workout.
But right now it looks like we'll be trading the pick.
FWIW: Jonathan Givony (DraftExpress) still has Bender ranked #3 on his Top 100 ranking (http://www.draftexpress.com/rankings/Top-100-Prospects/) .
On CSN tonight, they said the word is that Bender had a good workout and for the first time actually had some decent footage of him playing. No details on the workout beyond that. And in tonights CSN round table Scal and Max both said to take Bender when asked who Danny should take if he actually keeps the pick. Both cited his size and skills as the best fit and that they fully expected him to grow physically. No indication on whether either was able to sneak into the workout. Jackie said she likes Dunn, but admitted that its because she's seen him a lot down I-95 at Providence. She also agreed he's a poor fit as yet another guard who can't shoot well.
Everybody seems convinced Danny will trade the pick though.
-
With two teams that Bender worked out with, neither commented on his workout. Makes me think there's a no press clause for him to agree to work out with a team.

As draft week commences, former Cincinnati star Jacob Evans will have workouts with The Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors, League sources tell The Salt Lake Tribune. For Evans, it will be his second workout for both franchises.

Right. And Bruce brown of Miami was invited back as well. Brown is supposedly a very good defender but was injured so his stock dropped some.
Both look interesting.

The Celtics bringing a prospect in for a second workout is likely the strongest indication we as fans will receive that a team likes a player. Last draft season the Cs brought wings Jacob Evans and Bruce Brown, neither player was drafted by the Cs but this was likely caused by Time Lords surprise drop out of the lottery.
This draft we already have two players rumored to be coming in for second workouts Dylan Windler and Terence Davis.
Windler is a 68 wing out of Belmont who I have been really high on since his conference tournament. At the combine he measured just under 68 in shoes, with a 610 wingspan, at 196lbs. To compare Windlers combine numbers to a couple of other wings. (all heights are without shoes)
Windler
Height 66.25
Weight 196lbs
BF% 4.6%
Reach 88.5
WS 610
Lane agility 10.7sec
Max Vert 37.5
Middleton
Height 66.75
Weight 216lbs
BF% 7.8%
Reach 87
WS 610.75
Lane agility 11.45sec
Max Vert 31
Huerter
Height 66.25
Weight 194lbs
BF% 8.6%
Reach 85.5
WS 67.5
Lane agility 10.89sec
Max Vert 38
I also found it interesting that draft media talks up Reddishs impressive size, yet he was only .25 taller, with a 1 reach advantage and a 2.5 longer reach then Windler.
On the court Windlers go to NBA skill is going to be his shot. As a senior he averaged 7.1 3PA @ 43% as the focus of his teams offense. He also shot 85% on 4 attempts at the FT line. By comparison Klay Thompsons averages in college where 7 3PA @ 40% and 5.5FTA @ 84%and JJ Redicks where 9 3PA @ 42% and 7FTA @ 86% . It is also worth noting that rebounding is one of the most transferable stats from college to the NBA and Windler averaged 10.8 boards per game. Im not saying he will be a monster on the boards in the NBA but he should prove to be a better than average wing rebounder.
As a pro I think Windler will be NBA ready as a rookie. He will be best suited coming off the bench defending other teams bench wings and on offense providing high end 3PT shooting.
Terence Davis is the other prospect the Celtics are rumored to be bringing in for a second workout. Most mock drafts have him as a late first round pick. With the buzz of multiple late 1st teams looking at Davis I would not be surprised if he is a riser in this draft. As a senior at old miss he averaged 15pt 6rb 3.5ast and 1.6stl.
His natural position appears to be at the wing but he could also be a candidate to convert to the PG. I have heard his playing style compared to Will Barton. At the combine he measured,
Davis
Height 63
Weight 192lbs
BF% 4.1%
Reach 85
WS 68.75
Lane agility 10.69sec
Max Vert 34
Bench 13 reps
Jordan Crawford
Height 63
Weight 198lbs
BF% 4.9%
Reach 85
WS 67
Lane agility 11.03sec
Max Vert 34.5
Bench 7
His measurements are pretty standard for a combo guard/small wing though they posted better verticals Oladipo is only .35 taller and .5 longer ws and Beal was .25 taller with a .75 shorter WS.
Watching a little of him online and reading his scouting reports he looks to have a very good/elite first step and a strong frame despite being under 200lbs. I can see him developing into a solid bench combo guard with defensive versatility from the 1-3. I do fear the Cs will reach for him in the 1st as he is a much better fit as a 2nd round pick who spends the year in Maine learning to play the point

Windler sounds intriguing. Any player who gets comped to Bojan Bogdanovic and Joe Ingles is going to excite me, just because I really like both of those players.
-
Windler looks interesting from the highlights. Love that old fashioned style jump shot. Seems to have a quick release. He had an interesting Eastern Regional: 5 points against Temple and 35 against Maryland. I like guys who can shoot already and don't come with "fixable" shots. If you draft enough of these kind of guys, one of them might turn out to be special. Having said that, I hope that we're drafting for another team.

I remember the Celtics brought Bobby Portis in for a second workout, then passed on him in the draft. I'm not sure the second invite is indicative of much. In the past there have been players who asked for a second workout if they were disappointed in their performance at the first.
-
I just want consistent guys that can make jump shots. They play team ball and work hard. I also would like for the Celtics to actually give them minutes. Wasted Williams on the bench this season.
Davis is uber athletic and shoots well from outside.

Its funny you mentioned this. It was difficult to actually research past players who have worked out for the Cs in the past. I know multiple media sources deemed it a good indication and in the past it has worked out. After making this post I remembered that Smart had his first workout, it went terrible and then came back for a redemption workout. I didn't have time / want to go back and edit the original post

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Randle refuse to come in for a second workout with The Celtics?

He does. And he's possibly available with the #20 or #22 pick. I doubt that even if we do trade for Davis that we would be giving up all our 3 first rounders of this draft.

The Pels would already be adding at least 3 players in the trade plus the 1st pick, 2 second round picks and probably our 14th pick. that's 7 new players with only one going out.

Yeah, NO would not want 3 individual picks but they may ask us to combine the three to get as high as possible.

I would be interested how Windler compares to Herro Athletically.

I don't know about athletically, but Windler is longer and was a really good rebounder this season, plus he has a positive wingspan. Good indicators

Statistically its tough to compare a 19 year old power conference player to a 22 year old who was dominating at a small school. Herro has more room to grow and is likely to develop into the better over all Basketball player but I'm not sold that means he is the better NBA player. Both guys should be great shooters in the NBA and will likely max out as role players. At his size and with his length I worry that Herro will struggle to find a position to defend in the NBA. Windler is a bigger and much longer player who shouldn't be a negative on defense especially when matched up against other teams bench wings.

Its a little bit of a loose rumor but it appears that Chris Clemons PG out of Campbell may be coming to Boston for a second workout. He is a small scoring machine guard in the mold of IT.

Looking at the measurement comps above and adding Phil Pressey to that list shows DA's willingness to sign diminutive point guards. Clemons was the leading scorer in all of D1 bball this season and in his 4 years at Cambell he scored less then 10pts only once.

We don't have his official measurements but King is basically the same size as Tatum who was 6'8.25" in shoes 204lbs with a 6'11" wingspan at the nike hoop summit.
In his Freshman season King averaged 5 3PA per game @ 39% and averaged 2.5FTA @ 78%
He was the ESPN #11 freshman in and class and made it onto the Team USA U20 team where he averaged 18mpg (more minutes then Huerter, Okogie or Langford)
In the NCAA tournament Oregon made it 3 rounds and in those games he averaged 16pt 4rb shot 67% from 3 on 6 attempts
In terms of positional value I can't see how a 6'9 20 year old wing who can shoot is not a 1st round pick.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Celtics "reach" and take him at 22. He is likely the most physically gifted guard in this draft.
