I am a Kyrie Irving supporter. I think he's a top 10 player in this league and I hope he re-signs here.
That being said I will also bear no ill will and wish him well if he walks to team up with Durant in New York.
Our core is strong. We have a great system in place. If Kyrie walks we would be losing out on our top 5% potential but it wouldn't be difficult to imagine another All Star Caliber player to come in here and put us right back on track to compete for a championship year in and year out.
My question is this... Is there any player who would be a better option to take the reigns from Kyrie than Mike Conley?
Conley embodies all of our philosophies. He is a high character, team first point guard who shoot's 3's and defends at a high level. Conley, Hayward, and Horford supporting the young explosive wing rotation is a borderline ideal situation for how to construct a balanced roster.
Conley, 31, is coming off one of his best seasons. The Arkansas native averaged 21.1 points and 6.4 assists per game and shot 36.4 percent from three-point range.
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2830818-mike-conley-says-hes-not-interested-in-grizzlies-rebuild-amid-trade-rumorsHe wants to contend and has made his money as at one point the highest paid player in the league so it stands to reason that he might take a discount on his next deal to compete for a championship in Boston. We also easily have the assets to acquire him from Memphis who will be happy to send him East to a contender.
What do you think? If Kyrie walks, how about Mike Conley?
