I just wrote the same thing on the other thread.  I saw Virginia put DeAndre Hunter on him during the Elite Eight.  Edwards scored 42 points on Hunter, the best defensive player in this draft.  I am speaking as an UVA alumni.

Me too. Makes up for the wasted pick of Grant Williams IMO.

Maybe give him some time before you judge him. I think he will pleasantly surprise you.

If you're a UVa grad then you should know it's "alumnus" not "alumni" for singular usage.  ;^)

EDIT TO MY POST:  But you're incorrect.  Edwards did not score 42 on Hunter.  Bennett didn't put Hunter on Edwards until there were fewer than 13 minutes in regulation.  Edwards did hit four threes, a long two, and a layup against Hunter.  So 16 points. Then Bennett decided to start double-teaming Edwards (which worked).

All that being said, Edwards was PHENOMENAL.  And I love that the Celtics got him.  But you can't pin those 42 points on Hunter's defense.

Welcome, mr Edwards.

I wouldn't be surprised if you would turn out to be the best player from our picks this draft, even though you were only taken in the second round.

If he's Shane Larkin 2.0 I'd be happy with the pick.

Let's hope he can rekindle a little bit of the IT magic, though.  Just a few minutes here and there of heroic no-no-yes shot making would be cool.

Isn't Jeff Green the Memphis pick?

MEM traded Jeff Green to LAC for LAC 1st
MEM traded LAC 1st to BOS for #31 and #35 in 2016
BOS traded LAC 1st for 2019 #24 and #33 (Edwards)
BOS traded #24 and Baynes for next year's MIL pick

LAC 1st was lottery protected for 2019 and 2020 and would then have turned into a 2nd

I think Edwards could be that scoring sparkplug/sharpshooter off the bench we've been hoping to get in recent years (kind of like how Reddick and Korver play, except with more athleticism and hopefully not a pure liability on defense). He just scores.

So shouldn't you be thanking Deyonta Davis and Rade Zagorac? Or Matisse Thybulle? A little love for Aron Baynes, perhaps? lol

I took a trip to Japan about a month ago and worked a side weekend gig bar backing at Tavern in the Square in Littleton for about 8 weeks to help pay for it.

One of the benefits of the experience was that I actually got to catch a lot of the tournament games in a jacked up crowd when I typically if anything watch them alone or max with like 5 friends.

I remember one night in particular where it Virginia vs. Purdue and I needed Virginia for my bracket. I don't think there was a player in the tournament who drew more groans from the crowd than that little guy dropping 3 after 3 in DeAndre Hunter -the best defender in the tournament's- grill on his way to 42 points for the game.

Didn't know who he was but I remember thinking that this kid has my respect even if he never plays a minute in the league. Come to find out today that kid was Carson Edwards.

Welcome to Boston Carson happy to have you.

Eddie House?

I just read this comment after asking if Edwards was like Nate Robinson and the description of a sparkplug / sharpshooter off the bench at 6-1 made me think of Eddie House.

Is House a better comparison for Edwards? Pure shooter.
Or Nate Robinson? More ball-handling and athleticism.
Or neither? Are both off the mark?
