In Soviet Russia, Ball take care of you!
Let's win this one!
I'll be at the game! With a few friends (making em wear Celtics gear) and one Grizzlies fan. Let's go C's!!!!There are Grizzley fans in Boston?
Hoping for effort in defense and rebounding. That has really fallen off in the last few games.
OK BRAD WHAT YOU GONNA DO TONIGHT EH?why, win of course. ;D

I'm hoping we see an aggressive Celtic team here, after last night.
Worst part of this game is the way too loud arena music.
I didn't know McLemore is now playing for Griz now. Remember when we thought he's gonna be the second coming of Ray Allen?
i really like the game so far (judging from the comments above, maybe my stream is late?)
btw, i prefer it when the commentators are homers, the generosity of the memphis speakers makes me slightly uncomfortable

who is WE? speak for yourself ole chap

Me too, but asking for both in one game may be asking too much.
Words can't describe how ecstatic I am about tatums potential in the leagueFor me the biggest thing that Tatum has going for him is his ice water in the veins. That is beyond valuable in the NBA.
OK BRAD WHAT YOU GONNA DO TONIGHT EH?well, i guess CBS read your post and is showing us all what he plans for tonight. ;D

Predictable bench blowing the lead
It's official, our bench is just not good and there doesn't seem to be an internal option to fix it.
My enthusiasm for Rozier has all but disappeared. After being a strong supporter for two years, I've soured on him very quickly this season. He's just not a good basketball player.
Well, would you look at that. The bench is giving up points even to this scrub team.
At this point my only guess is that Brad is trolling us all with these continued dumb rotations with the bench. Does anyone really believe that a Larkin, Rozier, Smart, Theis, and Al lineup will work out there? Ugh, at least have one of Brown or Tatum out there, too.
It really should not be this difficult.

probably needs to be packaged and dealt. we need a consistent bench scorer
Is there a way we can trade Rozier for Tyreke?

I think a lot of coaches look (stubbornly) at the long game, meaning he wants this unit to figure it out come playoffs. And he seems to have emphasized limiting starters' mins to be healthy for the playoffs. I remember IT mentioning that right before the playoffs last year.
Horford only has a negative +/- because he played with the bench for extended minutes.
getting late hereup by eight at the half and on the road, i'll take it. celtics going to win this one. looking forward to the second half. ;D
despite memphis cutting their deficit, i enjoyed this half, this team has great promise
Rozier and Ojeleye are so terrible. Marcus Smart is either great or terrible... no in between. We need another good bench player preferably someone who can actually put the ball in the hoop.

Sure, which is definitely smart. But you can still stagger these guys better without significantly increasing our main guys' minutes. Yeah, it'll mean fewer minutes with your five preferred guys on the floor all at once, but we'd certainly make up for that by not going on huge scoring deficits in those all/primary bench lineups.
This is especially true once Morris gets back and is healthy, let alone Hayward, too. There's just no reason whatsoever that Brad can't always have two of Kyrie, Al, Tatum, Brown, or Morris out there, yet he regularly goes with only one or none of those guys in the lineup, which just doesn't make sense to me given how bad our bench has struggled.
Honestly the offense needs to run through Tatum on the bench... Brad already staggers his minutes so he plays with the bench. He’s the only consistent scorer.
Maybe there is ring chasing veteran that asks for buyout in a few months, then we flash the dpe at him to come play for a ring
Remember when we got pietrus few years ago. Someone like that

People need to give this idea up this year. Tatum does not consistently show enough ability to find his own shot, create for others, and shoot off the dribble to positively run a bench unit in the NBA yet.

He’s shown far more ability than Smart and Rozier. Half the time offensive plays are running through Smart and tunnel vision Rozier.I’d prefer Tatum take a last second shot than Smart.

21 point lead down to 2

Ya as of now Tatum scores most of his points by hitting spot up threes and straight line drives, he probably wouldnt excel trying to generate his own offense. In any event asking any 19 year old rookie to carry a bench as bad as teh celtics is probably aksing for trouble. That being said, he or Brown fr that matter coudln't be any worse that the offesne Smart and Rozier throw out there.

Some of you guys need to understand the distinction between total offense and scoring though, as Smart is a really good passer. He is a way better passer than Tatum does and he is good at running pick and roll. He just needs someone to hit the buckets (he does well with guys who can and plays well with Kyrie for example). Like you say, Tatum hasn't shown much off the dribble. You need the dribble to break down defenses and create offense. Tatum isn't ready yet.
Smart is doing a fine job. No one is expecting him to be the top scorer with the bench, we need other people to score while he passes. The bench doesn't really have enough off the dribble scoring or three point shooting off the bench in my mind. That's why I would like Bellineli from ATL.
It's amazing how much our poor 2nd quarters from our bench influences such large stretches of the game.
Can we just cut Nader and re-sign Gerald Green at the minimum or something? We need to address our anemic bench scoring one way or another.

Smart isn't just holding the ball. He moves it. He isn't preventing Tatum from doing anything, he's just not ready.
Wait Marcus hit a pull-up 3??
That's the second beautiful move that Tatum has made on the drive but missed the layup. I'm not worried about the misses. He's getting to the hoop. Stay aggressive.

that 2nd one was gorgeous... but he did miss it. Still a great move.
Jaylen is really bad at forcing contested shots at the rim when he should kick out.
Gasol is just unreal tonight.

2 of the worst quarters we've seen all season, back to back.
KI is +22 and we're behind. Our bench is beyond putrid.
yet another heads-up-their-ass collapse.
yet another heads-up-their-ass collapse.
losing to another D league team like the bulls.
TATUM WITH THE SLAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!
I know we have Tatum and Horford in but it’s nice to see the bench actually take and extend a lead

Tatum does not consistently show enough ability to find his own shot, create for others, and shoot off the dribble to positively run a bench unit in the NBA yet. He shows flashes but it is not there, even when he is with the starters who draw more attention he isn't lighting it up. He is hitting good open shots. With a defense focusing on him, he can't run anything yet.

That's the entire point. This type of bench rotation will limit those terrible droughts we have, especially with pairings like Al and Tatum.
We've been a good 4th quarter team this season. So what's the difference between the 2nd and the 4th? Brad usually changes his rotations in the 2nd quarter. This is working better, at least this game. I don't mind Tatum subbing out early in the 1st and 3rd so we can use his scoring with the bench.

Yes. This is also something that I've noticed, and I don't really understand it either. He always relies too heavily on the primary/all bench lineups in the second, which gets us into the hole/funk in the first place. Not sure what changes in the fourth for Brad.

Nice to see him hit a three. He's been taking one or two a game with confidence but bricking them.
Why are they rushing it? Milk the clock.

Kyrie just a little too trigger happy sometimes.
Very stupid shot by Kyrie w/ the fresh clock. Tatum bailed him out.
Beautiful 4th quarter by The Celtics! They picked up the defense and the offense followed.

In Kyrie's defense he's out there with Smart and Brown - neither of whom can make a shot - so he probably (and correctly) feels like it's up to him to score.Very stupid shot by Kyrie w/ the fresh clock. Tatum bailed him out.
Yep, and the shot before that he took wasn't great either.
Easy game. Jaylen is going off for 20+ tonight. Looking forward to celebrating this win with yall.
Very winnable game. Looking for Tatum to have a good one -- he's been quiet lately.

Celtics are 23rd in pace this season. Down from 12th and 3rd the two seasons prior. Curious why that is.

Other than the failure to defend Gasol in the 3rd, this was a great defensive effort. Seriously, if we just took away his 3 pointers and forced him into drives or passes, the Griz score like 75.
That was a solid win on the 2nd night of a back to back and the team had to fly all the way to Memphis. Good win! On to Indiana!
For what it is worth, a direct flight is about five hours. Siri gave me an answer In less than five seconds. That was a solid win on the 2nd night of a back to back and the team had to fly all the way to Memphis. Good win! On to Indiana!
You make it sound like they flew to Mexico City or Europe. Haha. It's Tennessee what a 2 hour flight?
Beautiful 4th quarter by The Celtics! They picked up the defense and the offense followed.
And who sparked that run? Marcus Smart.
Smart and rozier do not pair well
We need to let go of one and get a consistent 3 and D scoring guard

which run? smart didn't come into the 4th until the last 5 minutes. the run to begin it was with horford and larkin running the show. some good play by tatum and clutch buckets from rozier. the last 5 minutes was basically maintaining the lead those guys got us in the first half of the 4th.
