"Thomas has made a successful return from a serious hip surgery, but is still finding his offensive rhythm, shooting 5-of-26 from the field over his past two games. Around the Cavaliers, there are no worries: Thomas will find his way, but must continue to be aggressive. There had been moments he passed when teammates expected him to shoot, almost second-guessing his shot selection rather than sticking to his gut and true game."

So... which is it? He has an agenda, he shouldn't be shooting... or he's not being aggressive enough.

Them wanting DJ is pretty much an open secret. But they Clips shouldn't settle for just Tristan Thompson and spare change. Is Tristan + Channing Frye + Cleveland's own late 1st enough? Idk.

Aren't the Clippers poised to, potentially, clear a ton of cap space this offseason?

I'm not honestly sure if Deandre makes them better.  Can you really play Deandre in crunch time against the Warriors?  Isn't he a downgrade from Thompson in terms of his ability to defend smaller players on switches?

Can't help but think that when Lebron was going off on his team mates that IT was thinking to himself, "I can see why Kyrie wanted outta here now!"

I don't think so. They're flirting with the hard cap right now and they don't have many expirings. They're talking about extending Lou Williams and then they have Blake maxed out and then Gallo at $21m.

I think DJ is significantly better then Tristan defensively. I also think he's a more natural fit next to Love.

Would the trade be Thompson and the Brooklyn pick? Cause that would be a terrible deal for the Cavs considering Jordan will be a free agent. Thompson has negative trade value right now given his contract, so the Cavs would have to give something significant along with Thompson to interest the clips. Thompson is averaging a career low in points, rebounds, blocks and minutes and has been criticized for his effort at times.

If the Clippers and Doc rivers have half a brain they do not entertain any deal that doesn't get them the Nets pick.

Thompson is an under sized over payed role player in a role that can easily be filled at his 16mill price point. I think they are better off letting Jordan walk in the off-season rather then take on Thompson's deal for little more then the Cavs late 1st.

If the deal is Thompson and the Nets pick then 100% trade Jordan. I suspect the Nets will finish in the 10-14 range and while not a spot that they will likely find a star a player like Mikal Bridges, Miles Bridges or Kevin Know could be a valuable piece for them moving forward.

As for the actual game on the court. I would love to see the Cavs land Jordan. He limits them in late game situations with his FT shooting and likely pushes them back to playing Love more at the PF.

I agree that the nets pick is fair value for Jordan. If clippers are lucky they get deandre back in Mo Bamba. If not like you said the other bigs available aren't so bad

personally, i would love it if TT was traded away from the Cavs.

i'd rather see anyone else in a Cavs uniform come playoff time.

I feel like he kills us every single year. We have never had an answer for him down low.   would be so happy if hes gone.

I laughed at the time and I'm still laughing about when, I think it was the guys on TNT, said that the Cavs had the 4 best players on the court last year in the C's/Cavs series.  This was BEFORE IT was shut down.  Tristan Thompson better than IT?  In what freaking universe?

Good point. Lebron might be better with Clips than Lakers; Blake, Beverly (healthy) and Williams (on a re-sign).

Jordan, W. Johnson, Thornwell, 2nd for Thompson, Shumpert, Rose, BKN

Dollars are about the same.  Cavs get the better big man and add some quality bench wing defense in Johnson as well as get a young somewhat promising player.  Clippers get a lesser version of Jordan, but he is cheaper and signed long term.  They also add Shumpert to fill the Johnson role and Rose to help their revolving door of back-up PG's, but the obvious prize is the Brooklyn pick.

So the Cavs get better this year, though do lose out on the BKN pick and what they could use it for, but I think they might take that chance to have this team

PG - Thomas, Wade, Calderon
SG - Smith, Korver, Thornwell
SF - James, Johnson, Osman
PF - Love, Crowder, Green
C - Jordan, Frye, Zizic

Basic 10 man rotation - Thomas, Wade, Smith, Korver, James, Johnson, Crowder, Green, Love, Jordan

That team probably doesn't beat the Warriors (though I think it gets them closer), but most likely beats everyone else.

You are advocating them giving up their best future piece for the chance to lose by less to the warriors? Do they resign Jordan? IT?

I would think so. That would be the point of acquiring Jordan (and IT to a lesser extent)

i was thinking the exact same thing......Lebron maybe a nice guy ,  but he has surrounded himself with a bunch of old stuckup divas .     Its like a dictatorship......Her Lebron running everything.   Celtics team ....if you listened to JJ pocast is like a college team feel in the lovker room.  People respect the coach and each other .  I just get this feeling that really is not the case in Cleveland with that diva bunch.

LOL it will HAVE to include the Brooklyn Pick. HAVE TO. Clips aren't trading Jordan for an extremely underwhelming Thompson alone. Though I don't even think the Clippers want to trade Jordan since they are still in the playoff race.

And I wouldn't mind. Let CLE trade away that BKN Pick. Jordan helps, but that team is still getting killed by the Warriors in the Finals, lets be honest.

Totally agree TT has killed us in the past. But things have changed now that we have all of Australia, Mook, and Theis. I don’t worry about TT anymore. Jordan is a *much* better interior defender/roll man.

Keep thinking: Why aren't the Cavs playing that great center who, if he was coming into the NBA this season, would have been a top 10 pick? Surely a top 10 pick guy should be getting minutes.

Just because he might've been drafted in the top 10 mean he is a top 10 talent. Anthony Bennet got drafted 1st for example.

Its not unreasonable to think a young Center who did well in Euroleague might get drafted in the top 10. Bender got drafted doing way less.

Jordan is 29 years old....let's add him to the oldest team in the NBA....whilst getting the 26 year old Thompson outta there.

Cav's 29.5
Celtics 24.8

I didn't say old is "bad" in Boston we have been watching veteran teams win titles for decades.

I do, however, imply that old is "old."

Cavs will never do this if they have to include the Net pick .

If I were Atlanta , Id wave my hand ,   how about Bazemore and Collins for the Nets pick ? That sounds like a screaming deal for Hawks getting two 10 tens in this draft ......and we like that .....because their talent eventually travels north to Boston.

Funny how half of us (me included) had Zizic as a future HoF’er and quickly became a throw in that nobody mentions nor may ever be heard from again.

It seems like he's afraid of being selfish and at times being too passive. I tend to think Isaiah will figure it out. Defensively? Nah, I don't think so.

My opinion is that Isaiah clicked in Boston (coach, fans, city). He's great, but in certain conditions around him. I think we'll never ever watch IT4, but some Isaiah Thomas.  Similar thing with Crowder.

The Cavs should do a deal if they can since Jordan  > TT and the Cavs are win now. Let them get older. Speaking of which:

Quote
Then there’s Boston, currently the East’s top seed with a (34–10) record, as a gerontological outlier. The Celtics are one of the league’s youngest teams, as only the lottery-bound Lakers and Suns boast lower average ages than Boston’s 24.5; not a single Celtic is older than Cleveland’s average age.

...

The Celtics aren’t just an anomaly this season, though; as a team this young and competitive, they’re a historical aberration as well. Before this season, 142 teams since the advent of the shot clock played with a weighted average age younger than 25, and they were generally awful, finishing with an average .365 winning percentage, which translates to a 30–52 record.

I agree.

Boston needed IT4. Haters gonna hate, but he put us back on the map of relevancy. He brought us back to the playoffs. And he recruited free agents, bringing in Horford, Hayward, and nearly Durant. He made us competitive while embracing the culture, the franchise, and the city.

But, IT4 also needed Boston. He needed a GM to welcome him by telling him not to change. He needed a coach to maximize his strengths while masking his weaknesses. He had teammates who trusted and respected him and got on the bus and wanted him to have the keys. As Isaiah went, so did Boston.

That’s something he didn’t get in Sacramento, and definitely not in Phoenix. Now he’s in Cleveland, where he plays in the shadow of a guy who might as well be ten feet tall.

I thought Ainge took care of him by sending him to an elite team. But that elite team has one of the greatest players to ever play. Isaiah needs to be the man to flourish. He needs that chip on his shoulder. He needs to cast a shadow, not play in one. Isaiah is playing for a contract, one he deserves. But playing with LeBron will not bring the Brinks truck, he would have been better off turning a bottom dweller (like the 2015 Celtics; 20-31 without him, 20-11 with him) into a playoff team (2016, 2017 Celtics).

That is the sign of a max player.
