C's need Baynes back badly. Let's be honest, Theis has been very underwhelming this season.

He is not a center.

Yep he can play the 5 in small ball lineups that Brad likes but against genuine bigs like Aldridge or Gasol he’s not big enough.

Going to be difficult against KAT next game.

I don't blame Theis one bit, he has to play out of his position , meaning what he does, too bad Horford plays like a panzy and cant be that force down low and allow theis to be his natural hustle guy effort. Seems like only Smart is allowed to do that. Theis is a solid bench player but now hes forced to try to do his best against monsters down low.

That's understandable but when he and Hayward are on the floor it's usually 3 on 5 on offense.

Hayward looks like he is totally lost and has no confidence at all.

Hayward didn't even make a shot tonight.

Really earning that 30 million...

The team's up-and-down season will not change until he does something or they just move on from him.  He is just giving them nothing.

Yup. Dude is an MLE player right now. Maybe not even

Jeckyll and Hyde team. 1st half good 2nd half bad.

Story of the season.  I cannot see this team competing for the Finals as currently constructed.

The chemistry is wrong somewhere - not meaning locker room chemistry - the pieces just are not fitting together the right way. We were a mentally tougher, more physical team on both offense & defense last season. Ball isn't moving as well on offense and I have maintained all year that we are not working as hard on defense as last season.

Oh Boy - Now we can hear all the answers to our problems from the "Player's Only" crew.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

I know people are going to be mad after this but give SA some credit. They balled out, Collins was unconscious.

I definitely give SA a lot of credit, Pop said all the right things in their locker room and they came out all fired up and shock and awe’d us in that 3rd then kept their composure once they had the lead. We fell apart again when we started missing shots our defense dropped off. They recovered but it was too late.

Hayward 0 points it’s 1 step forward 2 steps back for him again. 5 assists but 0-6 is pretty bad.

I'm sure others noticed it - when he missed his 4th wide open 3 you could see him hang his head and run halfheartedly back on defense.  There's nothing wrong with having a bad shooting game.  But he should stop feeling sorry for himself and letting it affect his confidence.  He's disappeared in so many games this season because of this.

Hayward looks like he is totally lost and has no confidence at all.

CBS needs to sit him when he is play n like this .  He is avoiding rebounding ,  useless defense , and afraid to take shot or attack the paint ".........why is he even on the floor . :-[

This team just doesn't work the way it is constructed. Chemistry sucks...don't defend...feel like Stevens is just out of answers

Eh...Celtics often play poorly on New Year's Eve, and games on this date are usually a crapshoot across the board in the NBA every year.

hah that is a helluva reach stretch armstrong to justify this garbage we are witnessing LOL

The thing is they weren’t garbage the whole game, they just can’t consistently string 4 quarters together. That’s probably what frustrates the most. If they were getting blown out the whole game it’s one thing, but they play well in lapses then they (literally) drop the ball in a quarter. Giving up 38 pts in the 2nd vs Memphis and 46 pts against Spurs, those things are what Brad is being paid to figure out. Especially when it’s really obvious that these defensive disasters happen when they start missing. I really think it’s a mental thing they switch off the other team takes advantage then they stand around waiting for someone to do something.

then make trades compress linup and if brad still cannot get this team to stop playing stupid fire his ass and get a coach who can manage this talent

I think I might just send Hayward away and tell him don't come back until you are a confident player and mentally right. He adds nothing to this team on offense nor defense

Celts got rocked like a hurricane in the 3rd quarter during that 16-2 run. Not much to say after that.

Though I agree with others. Hayward is not doing much of anything on the court. We still need a big man (and have needed one since the beginning of time)

Aldridge was getting to the net at will. Theis not providing much other than an occasional board.

Also, Bellinelli deserves a broken nose when the Spurs come to Boston. Can't believe that forearm to the face of Kyrie wasn't a technical. Clearly intentional.

Seems at least once a game now Boston allows a massive run by the other team fueled by lazy offense and lazy defense.
