Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown score 30 each and the Celtics win!

Wow, Theis starting tonight instead of Baynes. Seems like Brad wants Baynes off the bench for Monroe. I worry about Al covering Giannis, though, especially the leeway he's been getting with the refs lately.

Came here to post that. Interesting decision — looking forward to seeing Theis with the first string tho.
Boston CelticsI like this, theis has some speed and size to maybe still with greco and has a few fouls to give. You really have to step back and appreciate Gianni's improvement and how he seems to be a good guy/attitude

Baynes off the bench to match up with Monroe. Smart looked good at shoot around but still game time decision.

Don't want no Freaks in dis game.
Theis starting off right!
Woah woah woah, is this bizarro world?? Did we start off with two offensive rebounds?!
Already liking Kyrie's aggressiveness better than the last four games. He's already looking more comfortable in the offense.
That Bucks court is nauseating to look at on tv..
Looks like they're playing on top of a nacho cheese bowl with guacamole in the middle. That Bucks court is nauseating to look at on tv..
Yeah, it's sickening....
Oh good Lord, really refs? Stop calling this ticky tack crap!!
Love Kyrie taking that transition pull up 3 when he's so open, IT did that a lot and it opened up transition drives as teams started really jumping it.
Kyrie's looking good. I like the shots he's taken, too.

This is my favorite starting line up post Hayward.

That was the most savage defensive possession I've seen in a while. Who was that on Middleton?

Yep, love that shot.

Talking about the 3 early in the shot clock. Prior possession
I wish rozier would get away from the point when kyrie is out there. He's a scorer not a playmaker
This is my favorite starting line up post Hayward.
I like Theis. I also really appreciate that Danny went out and found an unconventional guy that fits the system, rather than some retread big name.
Kyrie looks so much more comfortable than he did last week.
Geesh. Another turnover. That's 6 now.Spoke too soon. 7 now.
Kyrie looks so much more comfortable than he did last week.
Man, I don't even think that Aaron Baynes fouled Giannis there. He went straight up.
That's why you have to love Baynes. He doesn't care about going on any poster and giving up his body.
And of course Reggie creaming all over Giannis. ::) God he's one of the most annoying announcers.
I stand with Reggie. Not a Tech
I worry every time someone falls like Baynes.
Gives me Hayward flashbacks! !

I know how you feel. I’m forever haunted by that
Rozier has been really good overall, but he gets tunnel visioned too much still.
This is ugly. Get the ball to Horford and operate from there.
Rozier is just not a PG.
Incredible block by GiannisYep, coulda messed around and jacked his wrist up tho lol. Brown is gettin frustrated
My Lord, Kyrie, don't do him like that!
KYRIE! STOP!.
He''s already dead!!
seriously ;D ;D ;D
My Lord, Kyrie, don't do him like that!Crazy kyrie handle and move + Tom petty reference.
Why are we continuing to play Semi when Smart is available? Dude keeps giving up points.
Not sure about that play by Brown. Seemed to slow up to wind up to throw it down when full speed should have had the easy lay-in or unflashy dunk.
Why are we continuing to play Semi when Smart is available? Dude keeps giving up points.maybe smart is not completely recovered yet. just a guess. :P
Jaylen is aiming and thinking about shots now. He needs to relax and this is a big leadhe and rozier are a combined 0-13. wow. that is pretty sucky. yet, the celtics still are in the lead.
Wow JB 0-8 has he been taking bad shots or just missing?
Wow JB 0-8 has he been taking bad shots or just missing?
Missing. He's been taking good shots for the most part.
I was wondering where Tatum was. Not sure why he was out so long.

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?! That's a clear charge with the off-arm! More Giannis favoritism BS.
Payback call

Giannis is only 22? Like why is he this good already...
Giannis is only 22? Like why is he this good already...
Just goes to show how important it will be for Tatum and Brown to put up points. Without those points, this team will struggle offensively
i had to mute the game
reggie miller is the worst
hated him as a player and hate him more as an announcer
much as i like kyrie on offense, that was way too much hero ball at the end. :P

Completely agree.
Hard to believe it possible to dislike him more, but he's so much worse as an announcer.
We're lucky to be basically tied going into half.
Someone besides for Kyrie has to put the ball in the hoop.
The Bucks are a handfull I hope they are in The Cave bracket in the playoffs!
game is yet another example of how this offense hits a brick wall when the team just chucks up 3's with little variation in the offense.i hope Brad gives them a verbal spray at halftime and reminds them to move the ball more.
Yeah, the bucks are a really bad matchup for us. They are long, fast and we don't really have anyone who can consistently stay with the greek freak. You try to double Giannis and you get the other guys from the bucks hitting 3s. They are utilizing the IT clev cavs defense right now on Kyrie. Blitz doubling him, daring other guys to beat them. Right now no one is stepping up.
much as i like kyrie on offense, that was way too much hero ball at the end. :P
Really? he is the only one doing anything. He passes the ball off when he gets doubled or tripled and no one can help him out. Not the person to blame.

They're good, but they're looking better than they are because we can't hit any threes, besides Kyrie. If Brown hit some of those shots it'd be a different game. And it'd help if we had more shooting. They are long so you have to make them play you to three and we aren not.
Their length is elite and causes us problems.
Miracle we're down by one as poorly as we've shot. This is where we miss Gordon but the kids gotta step up
That Jabari Bird guy is a shooter, right?
Play him. We need someone who can knock down some jump-shots.
Larkin is too small and is a poor matchup defensively against everyone on the Bucks.
The rest of the C's are struggling. Give Bird a shot.
We're down 30 without Al in this game.Yup.
Good Lord, Jaylen, that's inexcusable.
I don't see how that was a foul
I don't see how that was a foul
Giannis, apparently a superstar and you can't breath on them.

Yeah, and he's such a nice guy that you want to root for him (when we're not playing him), but it's hard to overlook how much leeway he gets with the refs. So unfair, especially as much as he charges into people and uses the left arm.
It’s a good thing Milwaukee’s missing some shots. Keeps us in the game till we start to get it together. I think Jaylen has lost some confidence in his shot tonight.
Al has clearly been our MVP this season. It looks like both he and the coaching staff realize they're going to need him to score more this season. He's playing great tonight.
Irving and Horford CARRYING this team right now.
Need one more guy to step up.
Weren't some people complaining about Al recently? lol Dude has been far and away our best player this season. He's got 22, 8, and 3 on 9-12 shooting, including 3-4 from beyond the arc.

Missed the first half but from what i am seeing Tatum is hesitating to take his shot like he did before. Against NY he would just grab and shoot. He needs to understand that his shot is really difficult to block and he will be okay.
What the heck was that by Smart?Timing's off. I'd suggest giving Nader a try right here.
What in the world is Smart doing?
Why are we not staggering Kyrie and Al?
hope Brown's starting to find the range. need another scorer tonight desperately

People always complain about Al because his game doesn't always translate to the stat sheet.
Baynes might be the most underrated move this season.
Smart with another poor possession. When he is bad, he is legit brutal.love Smart but this has got to be one of his worst games in years

I would bench Smart for that shot.
Just when you thought he can't make a shot.
Smart just shut us all up lol
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of Smart all on display - in one 4 minute stretch.
The C's turned a 7-point deficit into a 7-point lead when it appeared that the Bucks were on the verge of breaking it open. Love this.

That was almost all ugly...he did have a nice rebound, and hit that 3. He seems outta sync after being sidelined for a few games, I will give him that.
But if you are out of sync stop taking so many bad shots.
Glad we have a guy in Baynes that can battle on the boards. We missed that last year.was thinking the same thing. last year we'd all be screaming at whoever was on the court not boxing out and giving up a ton of offensive rebounds. not a comment on that all year so far.
Smart you don't have to shoot again just because you made the last one

I'm not sure what people see in Semi offensively, but that was as good of D as you could play on Giannis there.
OMG, they finally called a walk on GA
Best play of the night for Jaylen. Great board!
Lol VINTAGE KYRIE!There's the guy we couldn't stop in the playoffs last spring...
I love how well Kyrie and Al are working togehterI guess an unanticipated benefit of swapping IT for Kyrie
love the bucket on that but there was no reason for Smart to sit there with the ball for 10+ seconds doing nothing
Does Charles Barkley still think the Celtics are done? What a tool?
love the bucket on that but there was no reason for Smart to sit there with the ball for 10+ seconds doing nothing
Reggie was right on one thing, this chemistry developing between Al and Kyrie is pretty awesome to watch.
Seem like we have a few pairs right now goind well, Tatum Brown, Kyrie Al, Rozier Smart...
Brown, Smart, Rozier 6-28...
we are a better team with smart.
Brown, Smart, Rozier 6-28...
And we're leading ;D. I'll take those bricks as long as we have the W.
we are a better team with smart.
New guys must be happy Marcus Smart is on their team for the last two minutes of a tight game.

Yo crownsy, havent spotted you in a long time!
Nice team Ainge has put together. Wouldve been nicer if he had all pieces available so we could really develop chemistry.

He took a couple of bad shots that turned out inconsequential, but shots you don't want him to take nonetheless. At least the shots he did make were huge.
Who's dumber - Shaq or Barkley?
Who's dumber - Shaq or Barkley?
Barkley easily!!!
There's nothing I find more annoying than people complaining about Smart's shot selection, and nothing I find more satisfying than Smart draining clutch threes.
There's nothing I find more annoying than people complaining about Smart's shot selection, and nothing I find more satisfying than Smart draining clutch threes.
Really? Cuz he has AWFUL shot selection.
Tatum's length is just so beneficial.
Very good win.
Props to Horford and Irving for great games. Baynes and Tatum did work. Brown struggled from the field and missed some looks he usually hits, but he still found a way to help with 10 boards.
Early impression of this team is that their athleticism and interior physicality are much improved over last year. Good to see.
He drains clutch threes. Can't take that away from him. That's one thing that has earned him so many minutes despite his historically bad shooting. There's nothing I find more annoying than people complaining about Smart's shot selection, and nothing I find more satisfying than Smart draining clutch threes.

He really does. His “heat check shot” that invariably follows every 3 is my least favorite Celtics pastime of 2017.
Did the NBA put the Kabosh on Shaqting the fool???Don't think so, they ran an ad spot for it during the game...
Feel like we escaped with a win there but Kyrie first half and Horford second half really bailed us out

There's nothing I find more annoying than people complaining about Smart's shot selection, and nothing I find more satisfying than Smart draining clutch threes. You've gotta understand though, that taking a contested 3 6 seconds into the shot clock is not good.. especially with what brad is running here. Make a couple passes, swing the ball, then if there's nothing going I'm sure everyone is fine with that shot selection then. Love Marcus and what he brings to this team but those shots are the one complaint I have with his game. Heck even when kyrie does it I'm not too fond of it.
TBH, I don't think that's Brad's reason for playing him as much as he does.He drains clutch threes. Can't take that away from him. Regardless, he still takes way too many bad threes that he has no business shooting. They are horribly annoying, and set the team back. Guy has the smarts of a piece of rock sometimes.
Well, I said one thing :) But honestly, the fact that he plays nearly 30 a night for a very good team despite the fact that he's one of the poorest shooters in the history of the game is a testament of how strong his contributions are in other aspects of the game.TBH, I don't think that's Brad's reason for playing him as much as he does.He drains clutch threes. QuoteFeel like we escaped with a win there but Kyrie first half and Horford second half really bailed us out
Isn't that what stars of your team are supposed to do?
Feel like we escaped with a win there but Kyrie first half and Horford second half really bailed us out
I got the opposite feeling. Even when the Celtics were down points. It seemed to me the Bucks were treading water the whole game . The Celtics seemed to be ready to drown them any minute .
Bucks , caught the Celtics in the first game at very very bad point , huge emotional distress over Gordons injury , Morris injury , upsetting of whatever fragile amount of team cohesion had been built in preseason . Bucks took advantage of a crippled , emotionally down team .
I think the better team won and there was nothing the Bucks could do to stop it .....being a special day , special place, special court , etc .....etc .... Better talent prevailed.
One thing that stuck out in my mind that was different than last year's teams was the Kyrie block on Middleton on the post up. Last year the C's would have 100% helped IT early in that situation.according to my eye test, Kyrie Irving is perhaps the worst defender Ive ever seen when it comes to fighting over screens. Outside of that, hes not been too bad. Hes really active in passing lanes etc. and I havent noticed him as especially bad off-ball.
Kyrie is still getting targeted by opposing teams like IT was but the degree hasn't been as extreme so far. Nor have the C's helped in such an extreme manner.

I agree. I just think he has a better ability in space. Thomas, despite his size and quickness, wasn't really exceptional in staying in front of people or playing the passing lanes. One thing that stuck out in my mind that was different than last year's teams was the Kyrie block on Middleton on the post up. I think he's substantially better than IT, and isn't undersized. It matters. It improves the defense that he is the smallest guy out there a lot of times. Teams could base their whole offense around going at IT and I don't think it's the same with Kyrie. He's been holding his own.
