Ersan Ilyasova, Mirotic, Bledsoe, Hill..... are you kidding me?
Last season playoffs, you would have the ball fed to Jaylen Brown where he could just keep attacking Ilyasova (who can't guard him). Feed the ball to Tatum to attack Mirotic. Have Horford be the point forward up top , bring Lopez away from the basket, and have guys cutting to the net
None of these things happened, because one player needed to hold onto the ball/play hero ball/trigger happy when he felt like it
where it made the Celts offense, essentially a two man game while the rest just became perimeter shooters
And when you have a crappy offense + bucks sitting on defense .... just conserving their energy and doing their thing on offense/transition basketball
I blame Danny, CBS, Irving ....in this order, why the Celts ultimately failed
Danny - If you wanted to build around Kyrie, then get him the center he needs that can bail him out defensively from time to time, grab offensive rebounds. Trade for 3 and D players, to open up the lane
CBS - For letting Irving do whatever he wants without any consequences. Same for Hayward. While benching guys like Brown and Rozier for sometimes small mistakes. Brown misses a few defensive assignments and Morris, Smart yell at him and he gets benched.
Irving - For not adjusting his game to bring the best out of the team. Again, not recognizing
mismatches like Brown on Ilyasova. Tatum on Ilyasova as examples. Brown on Brogdon. Feed the ball and clear the lanes. Instead Irving goes 1 vs 2 , 1 vs 3...tries to shoot himself out of shooting funks. Wants to be the Hero
Bucks are better this season but the sad thing is that Celts didn't play up to full potential/ effort...which is ultimately the most disappointing thing about this season
