Macho Man Randy Savage died in a car accident today.  Quite the entertainer, and an icon for those of us who grew up in the 80's.

Yup

Wow. RIP. Grew up watching and loving this guy. I was expecting to read something about heart failure or drug overdose, although it is still disturbing to see him go Im glad it wasnt one of those.

Apparently he had a heart attack while driving and hit a tree head on.  I'm not sure if he was dead already when he hit the tree.  His wife survived relatively unscathed.

He did. He died of a heart attack while driving causing the accident.

I guess it was the accident not the heart attack itself that did him in.

that is really sad and somewhat disturbing...i've sometimes wondered if i had a heart attack behind the wheel if i would be able to steer the car for a few moments before or would i just lose all control and accidently ran off the road and hurt/kill my wife and kids.  ???

Not to make light of the situation in any way, and it obviously happens to younger drivers too, but that is one of the hazards of driving...especially in Florida.  It happens all too often, given the # of senior drivers on the road.  Defensive driving is the name of the game.  Stay alert and don't get riled by other drivers...you don't know what may be happening with them.

Definite bummer.

Those 80s wrestlers were definitely a part of my childhood.  Who can forget the Mega Powers or when he was reunited with Miss Elizabeth?

I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, but I am genuinely surprised he wasn't found dead in a hotel room.  That seems to always be the story when wrestlers die.

RIP Randy.  Funnily so, my favorite Savage quote was during a later-day feud with Roddy Piper when he said "Roddy Piper, you call yourself an icon?  I don't even know what that means.  Is that a kind of bird?  Is that a dodo bird?"

OOOOOOOOooooooo  Yeeeeeee-yah!

Sad.

One of the better, most hysterical talkers of his era.  And an athletic pioneer.
