Question for the Commish,
Since Josh Howard & I think Dalembert too missed the last 5 games of the season last year, are they eligible to be put on injured reserve and not currently hold a roster spot?

Redz is gone for the weekend - I believe the answer is no, they must miss 5 games while on your roster to be placed on reserve.  I am nearly 100% certain that no one can be placed on IR during the auction process no matter what happens - Roy had a similar question with Boozer.

But isn't Boozer a different situation since he got hurt during the preseason.  I was hoping it would be different since Howard is coming off of missing half of last year.

What I meant is that I think Redz' answer to the Boozer issue was that a player had to miss 5 games on your active roster before he could be placed on IR.  That would apply to this situation as well. 

OK, thanks for clarifying.  I figured it was at least worth a shot.
