Rudy Gay will be a fixture on the NBA's top ten scorer list for the next 6-8 years.
Forget the 17.6ppg or whatever people were talking about earlier in this thread. The only reason he isn't scoring 20+ppg already is because he has accepted a smaller role offensively in Memphis to make their Z-Bo / M.Gasol pound it into paint game plan work.
Rudy Gay can create a good quality shot attempt against absolutely every defender / team defense in the NBA. He doesn't create enough high percentage attempts but being able to get a good quality shot attempt at any moment is a very valuable skill come playoff time.
Rudy Gay is a very strong defensive player (much better than J.Dudley) who's mix of size, length and athleticism is extremely difficult for opposing scorers to deal with. He is a solid possession creator with rebounds and forced turnovers.
This guy is a stud. A strong two way player who rebounds. Hugely valuable player.
If Memphis dump Gay, it will be a catastrophic mistake for their long term future. Gay, along with M.Gasol, is one of the two guys Memphis should be planning their long term future around.
