Great article by Jonathan Tjarks

Quote
As an alpha lion ages, the last thing to go is his appearance. To the casual observer, who can only see the mane and hear the roar, he looks as fierce as ever. But the younger lions, the ones waiting for their chance to be at the head of the pack, are watching intently. Each passing year, the alpha lion gets weaker and slower, while the ones who grew up watching him get stronger and faster.

First I do disagree with the author saying Atlanta will win the series, everyone here knows the Celtics are raising banner #18 this year!

As much as I love KG he can not guard Josh Smith one on one. Fortunately for the Celtics I dont think that Smith yet has the "IT" factor to solely take over games.  I do however think that Garnett has lost enough steps to keep him out of playing PF for the rest of his career. I see KG as a center from here on out, which is probably the best for him (as much as he would disagree). Thankfully the Celtics got the Hawks now with a fresh KG, creating less of an issue with Smith.

Lastly, I have a strong feeling that Josh Smith ends up being with the Celtics this year or next year. Imagine a front court of KG/Smith. WOW

NOW LETS WIN GAME 2

Josh Smith has a case of the Toine shot selection.

And no 4 point shots.

Sorry, I really had to say this.

That was a fun read. But i think this alpha lion's teeth are still sharp. This series is far from over. Very far. KG in the second half looked like he shook the rust off. Tonight is gonna be intense. Tooo bad its on nba tv

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Easy for him to re-assert ATL winning after winning game 1 and losing Rondo for game 2. KG is going to smother Josh Smith and force him to shoot outside. Let's see how it pans out for ATL over the course of 7 games.
Our biggest concern is how Pierce/Pietrus do on Joe Johnson.
Sometimes I wonder if commentators have watched teams at all in the regular season.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I just don't get this comment.

Isn't it pretty well documented that KG owns J Smith in this match up?

I agree that it's a tough match up but whether J Smith is a mental midget or just tends to have bad games against us, when he plays against KG I wouldn't say KG can't guard him.

Not to mention didn't Smith shoot like 8 or 9 jumpers from beyond 20 feet which just about every one agrees is what we want? I could see if he was constantly taking KG off the dribble drive and getting lay ups/dunks but he doesn't

I think KG is better at C these days.

For those saying KG is better at Center he has pretty much the same numbers as last year (when he played PF) with slightly better scoring this year but better rebounding last year.

I think it was more that KG had a slow start in general this year.

In 3 regular season games vs the Celts Smith averaged 16 a game while shooting under 40% from the field. Not exactly legendary stuff.
