I wanted Danny to draft this kid in the 2nd rd a few years ago. love his shot blocking and aggresive D

He looked really good tonight and looks like he is strong and athletic enough to give lebron trouble like TA did last year. Cut either wafer or Harangody , but please  keep Lasme!
Good thing Danny didn't waste the pick when Lasme wasn't ready for the NBA.

Lasme looked excellent tonight. It will be great if he can do that against better players. I imagine they get a better idea of that when he is defending teammates in practice.

Mario West and Von Wafer...they aren't needed. Thats what I took from tonight's game.
Wafer looked horrible. Lasme took his lunch. Wafer better show something tomorrow.

Is Delonte a lock? I always was a big fan of him for his effort and toughness but whenever he's handling the ball I'm nervous. He's a poor defender on point guards and undersized at the two. He's a better all around player than say a guy like Mario West but are the C's better off with someone like that or another lesser player (but a specialist)like Von Wafer? I really like Delonte but because his ball handling is poor I think his decision making really suffers and can throw the team off and make for some bad possessions.Anyone agree with this?

I'd like to see some shots from 15-18 feet from Lasme tomorrow night. If he can nail those, he has a legitimate shot at making this team. Europe might have polished his game just enough.

Looked good. Liked him. Don't know where he finds minutes though.

Marquis might make way for him...I don't trust him to go through the entire season without getting injured.

So the 15 man roster as I see it, with roles:

Rondo: starting PG
Ray: starting SG
Paul: SF
KG: PF
Perkins: C, but IR

there is 5

Delonte: PG/SG
Nate: PG
Marquis: SF
Shaq: C
JO: PF/C
BBD: PF/C

there is 11 confirmed. None of that will go anywhere

12: Avery Bradley (won't be cut)
13: Semih Erden (won't be cut)

So two spots..

Harangody: Something tells me they won't cut this kid. I just don't think it will happen.

Mario West: No chance
Von Wafer: 80% chance of making the rooster
Lasme: ?

To me, unless Wafer gets cut, Lasme is going to the Red Claws this season. I think that's why he's on the rooster.

Rondo/Nate/West/Bradley
Ray/West/Wafer/Bradley
Pierce/Daniels/Wafer or maybe Harangody?
KG/BBD/JO/Harangody
Perkins/Shaq/Jo/BBD

That's the Wafer scenario

Rondo/Nate/Delonte/Bradley
Ray/West/Bradley/Daniels
Pierce/Daniels/Lasme
KG/BBD/Jo/Lasme
Perkins/Shaq/JO/BBD

That's the Lasme scenario.

Ideally I'd have Lasme..but I bet we keep Wafer.

What makes you say that? Gut feeling?

And why is Mario West still on this team?

Would love to see this kid make the roster. Loved what I saw from him tonight. Would have no problem keeping him over Harongody, both Wests, and even Wafer.

you only need to keep him over Wafer, and Mario.

Yes, that and Wafer ideally has the scoring ability of Nate-Rob and the size of Tony Allen. That's a huge team need, but notice I said "Ideally"

And why is Mario West still on this team?

Could be any number of reasons (seriously).

He could share an agent with a guy Danny wants to leave a good impression on/an agent Danny owes one to. Making it out until a "tough final cut" would help Mario West's credibility as a legit NBA player, and thus reflecting well on his agent.

He kinda merits a solid look beyond 1 preseason game. He logged good minutes for the Red Claws last season before getting 39 games in with the Hawks. At 6'5 with the tenacity to defend 2's and 3's, he's a need. Reality is, he's no Tony Allen, but that's the ideal projection.

Maybe he is a fantastic practice player, and Doc feels he deserves to stick it out through the preseason. He's probably going back to the D-League anyways, nobody is going to pick him up during the short preseason..so why cut the guy before you have to? If he's put in a solid camp, which we didn't see, then let the kid (he is only 26) have his shot.

100% dead on the money comment. Wafer, who I was excited about picking up, looks like he belongs overseas. The guy was horrid. If he doesn't show something immediately Lasme will take his spot. I'd take Mario over Wafer if you just looked at tonights game. (it was just one game though)

Wafer looked like he was trying to do too much. I think he was nervous.

I think he'll turn it around.

I'd read somewhere that Wafer failed to make a single shot during the entire training camp...and now this. He doesn't look anywhere close to the player that was on Houston's roster. He better light it up in the next game....otherwise he is a goner.
