Rebounding issues are just the latest problem with the Celtics’ defense, which ranks 22nd in the league through Thursday. The Nets, with all the defensive issues they have, are ranked higher. And only one team — the Miami Heat, perhaps ironically — has regressed more defensively than the Celtics

Oh, but the Celtics always start slow and get their act together by the playoffs, right? No, not really. Last year, when players were out of shape in the wake of the lockout, that was the case. But in the four years prior, the Celtics were the fastest starters in the league, racking up an incredible 94-14 record in games played before Christmas.

This group is different, and they’ll likely improve as the season goes on. The new faces need to learn and adjust to the system. But Thursday’s problems were as much about effort as they were about learning curves.

Avery Bradley is very missed right now.

The only color that matters is GREEN

The Celtics absolutely let the wrong Coach go. It would have stirred the waters but we haven't been the same since he left. Guess who he was?

It also hasn't been the same since KG and Pierce we're still in their prime. This team just doesn't have the all around players that could kill it on defense and still carry the offense they did when Thibs was here.

Doc and Danny need to RETHINK the small ball disaster.  Trade off the bulk of the poor assets ., and start over .

Defense and everything has evaporated, the team is almost not reconizable .

I agree with Jeff who agreed with some other guy in an article on the front page which claims that by season's end, the Celtics will once again have a top defensive squad.

Fret not, fellow Celtics fans.

Last year they had the lockout to blame for the slow start and it was legit. I guess many fans believe that this year they can blame all of the new parts.  However, I found this sentence from the OP's post a little scary:  But in the four years prior, the Celtics were the fastest starters in the league, racking up an incredible 94-14 record in games played before Christmas.

Well, only for a big guy who is an even better defender.  I love Avery's defensive intensity and disruption abilities, but a 6'2" shooting guard can never have the kind of defensive impact that a good defensive seven footer can.

Yes, we've seen that.

Pick your poison though.  Once Bradley gets back the offense will regress even more

Really? How? Its not like LEE is putting up big numbers. The chances of bradley playing worse than him are very slim.
