If Ridley officially re-signs with the Jaguars before the new league year at 4 p.m. this afternoon, the No. 48 pick will be sent to the Atlanta Falcons per the conditions of a 2022 trade that sent Ridley to the Jaguars.

If Ridley signs a new deal as a free agent after 4 p.m., the Falcons will own the Jaguars' third-round pick.

Technically 20 minutes away for that "deadline". Whether it's NE or Jacksonville.

Yep, but if he doesn't sign immediately after 4 PM today, I think that gives NE a bit of an edge. We'll see.

I don't think it would make any difference if he signs with the Pats though.  It will be a 3rd to ATL if he signs anytime with any other team.  The 4:00p deadline only applies if he resigns with the Jags.  So unless they are doing a sign and trade of some sort, him waiting until 4:00p tells me that he is resigning with the Jags.  Is it even allowable for the Jags to sign him and then trade him to the Pats for a 3rd?  I don't see any reason for the Pats to do this, so I suspect this all means he will re-sign with the Jags at 4:01p

The timing of Ridley's decision will also affect compensation from the trade that originally sent him from the Atlanta Falcons to the Jaguars in 2022. As NFL Media notes, the conditions of that deal dictate that Atlanta will receive a second-round draft pick from Jacksonville if Ridley re-signs with the Jags before the official start of the 2024 league year (4 p.m. ET Wednesday). If Ridley signs elsewhere, however, or signs with the Jags after the start of the league year, the Falcons will instead receive a third-rounder from Jacksonville.

Ridley's definitely talented, but I'm not sure if they're going to get $92m of value. He's crafty and can flash, but he's not the most physical receiver and that won't age well. I bet the Falcons and Jaguars feel burned by what could have been.
