So word is Jazz did indeed go out looking for a established PG at deadline. If C's landed Simmons or Ingram I feel building around them with younger players may be best. So I would do IT for Exum and the Jazz 1st if the pick remains top 12. Not sure if C's would thrown in their own pick or Philly pick. How do you guys feel? Get Simmons/Ingram into the flow of this team or build around him?

Can I have Trey Lyles instead of the draft pick?

exum hasn't proved anything, especially coming off of an ACL tear. The pick is going to be like 15th, and we have like no more room for rookies after this season.

I would never do such a trade.
First, we don't even know how Exum will player after the knee injured that he suffered in the summer. Second, Isaiah's scoring ability is the special something that we have lacked for a long time, which I don't think Exum or a player picked in the top 12 can do just as well (maybe Buddy Hield?). Third, IT averaged 26.5 points, 4.8 assists, 3.7 boards and one steal; shooting 47.8% from field and 42.6% from three in the month of March, which is why I personally would like something better in return for a player putting up those numbers.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

If you're getting your idea from this:

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/15037904/atlanta-hawks-searching-last-season-magic-just-playoffs

Quote
By all accounts, trade talks for Jeff Teague and Jrue Holiday went nowhere; the asking prices were too high, and the Jazz are confident with Dante Exum ready to resume his career next season. But this team is a decent point guard away from being really good. Expect Utah to sniff around again in June, perhaps dangling its draft pick as bait. Even with all three of Mack, Burke and Raul Neto under contract for next season, Utah needs a quality veteran presence to hedge against the fact Exum is 20, massively inexperienced and coming off knee surgery.

then you'll notice that the idea is for Utah to keep Exum, not trade him.

I highly doubt Utah would be willing to trade Exum AND a top-12 pick.

I don't think this really makes sense for either team. The Jazz probably don't want to admit defeat on Exum, who has not been very good this year but still has potential. The Celtics don't have the patience to bring along another young guard who may or may not pan out. We will be inundated with picks + prospects next year, so it just doesn't make sense to trade for a guy like Exum, and the Jazz pick doesn't hold a ton of allure either.

I love IT but if we get Ingram this might not be a bad idea.

If you do move IT, what do you do with Crowder? Winslow trade?

PG - Exum
SG - Smart
SF - Winslow
PF - Ingram
C - Olynyk

Not liking the interior D but that's a nice young core.

I'd be the first one on the trade IT while his value is high bandwagon but he's worth more than a prospect that hasn't managed to stay healthy the past 2 years and hasn't looked like a world beater while on the court to go with a mid-first rounder in a fairly weak draft in which we already have 8 other picks.

I would try to keep Crowder and AB in the short term. Bring Exum and Ingram off the bench. That would keep C's a playoff team. And pair Jazz pick with Dallas pick for a move up back into top ten. But if Jazz are back into the play off spot maybe it's not enough any more.

Except that none of the first 3 can shoot.  Shooting is an important skill.  :D

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Isaiah is an All-Star and on a ridiculously good contract.

I will not trade him for an unproven kid and a pick in the teens on what is being considered a weak draft.

I'd have to pass, even if we get Simmons/Ingram.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

I'd trade IT in a package for Favors, Hayward, or Gobert.

Otherwise, no thanks.
