whats that?

elliptical machine, whatever the "hills" equivelent thing is, I do level 15 out of 25..my HR planes out at around 160 and tops out (at the highest "Hill") at 180

EDIT: I've been mixing it up though, 15 mins at "cardio" level on the ellip to get my HR up, then 25 mins on the rowing machine then 5 min jog to wind down

I also do kinda the same thing but replace the rowing machine with a 20 min heavy bag workout.

I've been running 3-4 days a week and lifting 2-3 times a week.  It all adds up to about 8 or 10 hours a week.  I cut back on the weights as I was running longer distances to get ready for a 10k.  My goal is to  keep running a mile or two at a faster pace when I go to lift now.  I know I'll stop runnin outside once it starts snowing.

I also walk about half a mile each morning to the bus stop to head to work.  Thats helped with my cardio compared to two years ago.

Lift 3-4 times per week and run differently based on what I'm doing it for.  Was doing 5 or 6 miles a few times a week but now I'm training for a marathon so i'm just doing real long distances less often so I can recover for the next one.  Did a 17 miler a couple days ago.  Also, just for the challenge I did a 102 mile bike ride 2 weeks ago.  The most I had done this year was 13 miles, and the most I had ever done was 50.

having children and a family really impacts how much u can work out.  for me, i do kung fu training, run when i can, play ball when i can, and lift when i can.  i would say i get about 5 hrs total a week, but it varies day to day depending on my priorities and responsibilities as a father and husband.

Not as much as I used to or would like to. About 3-4 hours/week. A mix of hoops, ultimate frisbee, soccer and a simple core routine.

This is spot on true. Exactly my situation. Family time really cuts into your ability to exercise...but family is worth it!!!

its amazing how much exercise I get at work; had the summer off, came back, already 15 pounds down just from walking around and eating less....

otherwise, I play ball 2 nights a week - 1 hour each time; try to play soccer once a week for about an hour and in the last week or so I've been doing 30+ cardio nightly to train for a 5k (1 week away)

I tend to only like exercise when it's competitive though - my running of late is so uninspired - when I play basketball I get a great workout because I'm all over the court

Awesome thread... great to see all the responses.

I workout 6 days per week.  Usually 45-60 min of lifting followed by an average of 60 min of cardio (running, elliptical, etc.).

It's funny, the one day I take off is probably the worst I feel all week!  I guess that's a sign that my body considers my exercise routine a drug!

  • Everybody knows what's best for you
I run a couple of times a week and do weights a couple of times a week and never really work out for more than an hour. I try to play bball when I can, but not often enough.

I consider myself to pretty in shape (at least I look in shape), but wow, a lot of you people on here blow me out of the water. Like, I think you all work out more than anybody else in the world. Good for you, I guess...

can I reiterate how much I hate running for running's sake - any ideas on making it more fun?  Shadowboxing invisible zombies?
