Joe Smith.  A 6'10" guy who's long plays good D. And would fit in real well here. Behind Perk And KG. He also Scores pretty well.

No question. Scal's really not terrible, and I have no idea about Giddens, but it never hurts to have a steady, veteran big guy in the playoffs, so yes, I'd make that trade.

If Smith was younger, yes. But now, no.

I think Giddens has the size and length to defend 3's in the NBA. I think he could help this team this year.

I actually like Giddens as a player more than Walker.  I'd trade Walker and Scal for Joe Smith.  But isn't it possible that he gets bought, making it possible for us to get him without losing any players?

This is probably the only kind of deal I would be open to doing. At the very least, it would relieve us of the demeaning Scalabrine chants at the Garden. But Smith would fill the PJ Brown role of last year, but more ably. Especially with the loss of Posey, this is a good move.

...I'm saying this without knowledge of Joe's contract...
Formerly scotthp49 at the old site. Didn't have much to say last year, but I missed you guys too much.

I really don't like these one-year rentals type of deals. I don't think Joe Smith brings that much in respect to our actual needs. Joe Johnson and Rodney Rogers comes to mind.

I also can assure you guys, that once another big gets added, it'll be Powe who won't be getting on the floor... are you Powe fans ready to accept that?

Are you comparing JR Giddens to Joe Johnson?  I think you are overvaluing the kid way too much.

Joe Smith absolutely helps us.  He is basically a rich man's PJ Brown.  He can score inside or hit the open jumpshot, and is a very good defender and rebounder.  He would immediately be our 3rd best big man (by a pretty large margin), and would give the team another option down the stretch if teams are cheating too far off of Perk.

He could get bought out (as Oklahoma is going nowhere), but technically, we would have to waive a player, which would be (hopefully) Cassell.
