Game Notes

The Celtics have traveled to Indiana to take on the Pacers tonight as Boston plays their 1st game of a difficult 5 game road trip. The C's come off an exciting 117-113 victory over the previously undefeated Milwaukee Bucks to extend their winning streak to 4 games.  The Pacers return home having won their last two on the road and willing be playing the second game of a back to back.

The Pacers will only be playing their 4th game at home this season and have looked good in this young season. However, 5 of their 6 games have come against teams with a sub .500 record with their only marquis winning coming against the Spurs in San Antonio. Indiana has a very efficient offense with a team 50.2 FG% and 39.7% 3PT%. Both are good for 3rd in the league. The Pacers do like to slow it down though and have the slowest pace in the league.

Indiana are led by their All-Star shooting guard Victor Oladipo having per game numbers of 22.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists. The Pacers spread the rest of the scoring around with 5 other players in double digits scoring, all below 13.8 points per game. If Indiana is missing something it's great rebounding as they, much like the Celtics, gang rebound. They are led by third year man, Domantas Sabonis with 8.8 rebounds per game. Sabonis keeps improving and is one of the better bench players in the league.

Keys to a Boston victory will be to quicken the pace by looking to run the ball on the break and to use their league leading defense to limit Indiana's trips into the paint and run the good Pacer shooters off the three point line. Though Indiana is efficient from three, they take close to the lowest amount of three pointers in the league.

Look for Jaylen Brown to return and do his best to shut down Victor Oladipo. Brown will have a lot of help in that as Marcus Smart will probably also match up with Oladipo. The Celtics appear to have excellent matchups at PG with Kyrie Irving and SF with Gordon Hayward and Jason Tatum. Look for those three players to attack the paint and create open looks for others. The Celtics will continue to look to improve their offense with more great shooting from three as they have been generating a ton of open shots from downtown.

Wow, Brown's already taken 5 shots (in less than 6 minutes) and has made only 1.

Agreed, this constant bombing from 3 point range is really dull.

But every one of those threes we're open shots and good shots. Just didn't make them.

Yup, and it's not like the Cs have Klay Thompsons and Steph Currys out there. Boston doesn't have the personnel to be bombing 40 threes a game.

I'm on a couple minute delay, but I'm already about to stop watching. This is p--- poor offense of us just CONTINUOUSLY chucking up threes without even attempting to get inside, and Brad is just sitting on his hands watching it happen and even encouraging it.
