Does this mean that little EHouse will be posing for fake pics during the starting lineups of Heat games with LeCrab and Predator now?

I guess the Silver lining is Miami will have the max amount of players and probably not be in the running for a good player or two who slips through the cracks at the min before camp.

Absolutely, I really dont understand some of the people they signed. Shavlik Randolph? Kenny Hasbrouk? Carlos Arroyo? Dexter Pittman?  With guys like Stackhouse saying they want to sign there for minimum why would they want these guys?

Pittman (long term prospect + 14/15th man) and Arroyo (rotation player) will be on the team but the other two (Hasbrouk, Shavlik) are just training camp invites.

Players who have been given non-guaranteed contracts and a chance at playing for a roster spot during camp.

Teams only have to pare down to 15 players at the start of the season. They can enter training camp with as many players as they want. Miami has had 18-21 players at the start of training camp these past two seasons.

Lets also add in Magloire and James Jones as guys that should not be playing meaningful minutes for a contender (don't even start saying magloire is decent he couldn't get off the bench behind jermaines oneal's worst playoffs series ever).

Why did they sign James Jones if they were gonna sign house? 3 point specialists without many other skills?

I agree on Stack, not sure why he hasn't been signed to that team, I know I'd snap him up after seeing how much he still had in the tank last year.  Not sure who else is out there that has expressed interest like you say that they should really be looking at though.

Also keep in mind Miami needs post players, that is their weakness. Pittman is a true C who could develop to be just the player this squad needs inside over the next few years. Randolph is also a big.

Carlos Arroyo isn't great but he's a good solid PG who takes excellent care of the ball.

They are hedging their bets on their post players I think because they aren't sure who exactly will prove to be most valuable and effective.  But they have a variety of options now.

Lets also add in Magloire and James Jones as guys that should not be playing meaningful minutes for a contender (don't even start saying magloire is decent he couldn't get off the bench behind jermaines oneal's worst playoffs series ever).

Magloire isn't that bad.  O'Neal didn't have a good series against us but you almost never bench a player because he's playing badly over the course of a few games.  Magloire is not better than O'Neal but O'Neal is a good player.  It's not like he's starting at C for this team.

If you have a team with LeBron and Wade, two guys who can do everything very, very well but shoot from range, you'd probably want good long range shooters alongside them to pick up that slack, space the floor, and hit shots when they are open off of double teams and help defense.  That's a no brainer.

I love watching Eddie House's non-defense and cannot wait until the Celts' guards light him up. I think Eddie is on the downside of his career and am glad he is not signing with the Celts. Here's hoping that the C's can swing a deal for Rudy.

House will be like their 10th man.  He's just there to hit open threes.

Celtics were not going to sign him after bringing Nate Robinson back.  It's not a knife in the back or anything personal, he just wants to play for a good team.  Jeez, guy helped us win a title cut him some slack people.  Pathetic.

Yay -- he helped us win a title. Now he is playing on one of the most despicable teams in the history of the NBA. And he still can't play defense.

Lol if that's the only appreciation you show for a title you don't deserve to be a fan of a team that wins one.  There are plenty of fans in Cleveland that would die for a title.  Lame.

You may be overreacting...

I'm Sorry Magloire is really that bad... he should not be in the NBA. He will be behind Anthony and Big Z, so perhaps he is ok as a 3rd string center. I am just saying why do you even need one? Why don't they keep their roster spots open and sign a stiff if z or anthony gets hurt. As I pointed out earlier every one of these guys they are paying double money on because they are over salary cap and they now have no flexibility for someone like Stack, Shaq, Kyrylo Fesenko, mcgrady etc...

They have said they like his leadership. It must be valuable to them for him to be around.

I don't see any bigs that would be sitting around that they would be able to sign that would be that much better.  Shaq is not going to be on that team, that is something that would not happen given his history with guys on the team and Miami, salary demands, playing style, etc.

They need a bunch of bigs because they have a lot of old ones and guys who could flop for them possibly or get hurt, I understand the logic of hedging you bets.

I think they also could care less about luxury tax at this point, they are trying to make a dynasty.

The Heat signed them to non-guaranteed contracts.

That is the same thing as a training camp invite.

Q: Are all minimum-salary contracts guaranteed? What happens if after Heat has all 15 players under contract a better minimum-salary player wishes to join the Heat? -- Robert.

A: The contracts offered to this point by the Heat are guaranteed, with the exception of the deals for Shavlik Randolph and Kenny Hasbrouck.

But, yes, a team can opt to eat such guaranteed money and sign a replacement player into such a slot. It is not unusual for teams to go into training camp with more than 15 guaranteed contracts. While teams are limited to 15-player regular-season rosters, they can carry up to 20 until the start of the season.
The quoted passage there is from Ira Winderman's Q&A page on the Miami Sun Sentinel.

I wasn't sure that Eddie would be a good fit for the 2010-11 Celtics, but for the Heat to grab this guy really hurts. I had no problem rooting for him in NY, but now... ugh!
