If they do get less respect from the refs it isnt David Stern and it isnt a group conspiracy by the refs.

Its because they talk alot of trash and complain almost every call. There was a poll of NBA players not to long ago that asked Who talked the most trash in the NBA?. KG came in 1st and Pierce came in like 5th then Rasheed and Perkins cmon. Even Finley commented on how much smack was talked in practice after his first week.

""A lot of talking - trash talking,"  Finley said. ...

just play the game guys.

I agree with some of what you are saying, but if they do dock us for trash talking, then that IS a league wide conspiracy because the rules say jack about trash talking.

Bird did it. Jordan did it. It's part of the psychological part of the game and I love it personally.

TP to op for the post. Agree on all counts.

Exactly what i was going to say RE: bird and Jordan.

what bird, Jordan and KG do/did is trash talking.

What Rasheed and Perk do is whining to the refs....big difference
Looking for a Sig designer....obviously i will be greatful with tps.

Looking for a Wire - Rondo theme....PM with ideas and I'll tp

play of the game that summed it up for me, Rondo gets a steal, KD grabs his ankle, no call, turnover, Thunder get a quick call on Perk

watching from the balcony it seemed lopsided with calls, especially against KD - not a single foul on him and he def. committed a few; any time someone looked at him wrong he was at the line

a statistic for Celtics free throw attempts at home versus on the road, and Celtics free throw attempts at home versus opponent free throw attempts at the Garden.
The team splits at basketball reference.com will have the Celtics own numbers for free throws -- link -- Boston takes and makes more free throws per game on the road but shoots a lower percentage.

Not sure where to get splits on opponent information.

Update: Hoopstats.com has opponent information on home/away splits -- link -- Boston takes slightly less FTAs both home (-0.7) and away (-0.6) than their opponents.

It means we have a bigger chance of winning if we shoot more FT's than the opponents.

It also means refs affect the game, for better *and* for worse.

Other than that, imo, it means nothing.

Hey, Nick, maybe if you calculate that for away games as well, and also for our biggest opponents, we can get a clear picture! ;)

Hehehehe

I thought the reffing was balanced in the 1st half despite the discrepancy (Pierce got away with a shooting foul and KG had an uncalled travel), but the 3-ft call for Durant and the clean Pierce block were terrible, terrible calls and ruined what was otherwise a well-fought game on both sides.  You can't spot the other team 5 points in tight game that ultimately gets decided by 5 points.

I don't know what all that means, but........

That's INSANE
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

A bunch of us in the game thread were up in arms in the first half about the calls and we were counting on some balancing out in the second...and it actually got worse.

And props to nick for taking the time to put those stats up.

It got worse the better we played. We should've won this game by at least 10 points.  Maybe that was the spread. Maybe they were just trying to keep it close to cover the spread. Who knows but it's a shame. David Stern needs to retire and bring in an honest man to run the NBA. If he knows what one looks like.

Celts were favored by 3 pts. Maybe they panicked when they saw Pierce was actually suited up and decided to take it into their own hands early. Maybe it was one guy. Maybe they just don't like our players. Maybe they are getting the directions from higher up. Who knows? Maybe they legitimately tried as hard as they could and were just plain old awful.
