I really want Franz Wagner out of Michigan if we wind up in the 10-18 range. On offense he's a 3-level scorer and can be a secondary ball-handler especially out of pick-and-roll sets. On defense he's a plus one-on-one defender against wings and modern 4's, and can switch onto 1s and 5s. His length (6'9" with a wingspan that's probably 7 feet) is very disruptive on defense with a lot of steals, blocks, and deflections. He's young for a sophomore (turns 20 in late August, so less than a month older than a freshman like Cade Cunningham). I think the only reason he doesn't project higher than about #10 is that he probably isn't going to be a #1 option on either end. But he could fit great next to Tatum and Brown in the starting lineup as a #3 or #4 option (depending if Kemba is still on the team), and be a #2 option in lineups featuring a majority of bench players. I think he could/should start as a rookie, with two years of major college basketball and German junior teams before that.
I was hopeful he would enter the draft last year and be available for the Celtics with their 2nd-rounder, but he wisely stayed in school and has really elevated his draft stock. Getting him would be a silver lining of a disappointing year.
