As great a season that IT had, the ability to actually attain a Kyrie Irving was overriding
And for an injured Thomas along with Crowder was astounding luck.
Crowder was not going to be compatible with Hayward. We escaped the bullet of IT salary and his two years of injury,No loss giving up Zizic and what was to be the number 8 pick.

I keep hearing about the two serious operations on Kyrie's knee. The first was shown to have completely healed and the second a cleanup of some irritating hardware that was left. Only a wire but found an infection near some unnecessary screws and those were removed with the holes to get grown over with time

When they were doing this work they got a good look at his knee and the broken kneecap was 100% and he is finally playing without pain and irritation. The Knee is structurally sound.
It is a shame that IT was injured,or played injured and his diagnosis muddied but that season will not be forgotten but I am now all in on Kyrie.

Ainge got his star with all his creds and in the beginning of his prime.
I have been impressed by Kyries leadership, his passing ,his unselfishness (giving up the breakaway for Jason to dunk.)He is playing defense and picked up his game and conditioning.

Ainge also got Marcus M on a steal contract with Avery playing down in Detroit and then traded and injured.

The infection came from an unnecessary surgery.  Kyrie described it as an infection that got so bad it turn into staph, which speaks to how concerned he is with his health and commitment to be on the court for his team (because its embarrassingly inaccurate).

He's a "star" to the extent that he's an attractive and highly marketable individual in the age of Twitter. But the Celtics are in bad shape if he is the best player on the team for the foreseeable future.

It's too early to tell but I wondered earlier today if our wins inversely correlate with his scoring.  He has the potential to be a great asset as a playmaker, but he needs to make that choice.

Why was the surgery unnecessary,it was supposed to be just removal of hardware that was irritating his knee ahead of playoffs.
The analysts imply that he has knee issues. His knee is 100% this was a fractured kneecap that
has healed. His latest knee operation cleared up any doubts of structural damage -a plus for Danny.

1. "The infection came from an unnecessary surgery." This is fake news. The wire had began to irritate his knee which was apparent to anyone who watched him play last season, therefore it had to come out.

2. "Kyrie described it as an infection that got so bad it turn into staph, which speaks to how concerned he is with his health." Not sure if you're trying to say he's overtly concerned with his health (which is just silly) or not concerned enough. If it's the latter, infections happen. That's completely out of his control. I've seen diligent wound management still end up with infected tissue. It's a hazard of surgery.

3. "Commitment to be on the court for his team." This is an assertion you continue to make based on fallacious logic that his surgery was purely elective. Even with his recovery, he was on the bench supporting his teammates more than Hayward, but only one of them have been subjected to your ire on a consistent basis.

TP.

tarheels keeps repeating this nonsense he knows is wrong because he has his weird ax to grind with Kyrie.

Meanwhile, IT still isn't healthy and the deal looks more and more like another coup for Ainge.

Kyrie is very much trying to be playmaker, but there are times he has been the only one capable of getting his shot, so he should continue to play that role as well. I don't think he wants to play that way all the time.

I agree with Tars that Kyrie has shown a firm commitment to this team, and we should get him our support as fans.

The word playmaker means you create shots for others.

He's 25th in assists in the NBA. He is not quite an average playmaker for his position. He's a devastating scorer who can step up in the clutch. Everything else he does is below average. It will be fascinating to see if he will adapt to the challenge in front of him. So far, he's shown a good attitude and occasionally put more effort into his defense. Thats not enough.

This team only has one above average passer in Horford. Hayward has shown this in the past, but he isn't playing that way right now. Kyrie needs to create opportunities for Brown and Tatum, and he really isn't right now.

If you’re using assist numbers as the only measurement of a playmaker then that’s simply just poor basketball analysis. He has quite clearly improved as a playmaker this season, and is certainly not below average. Just because he doesn’t get assists doesn’t make him a bad passer, just like John Wall trying to pad his assist numbers while averaging nearly a handful of TO’s a game doesn’t make him a good passer.

JB & JT are also getting plenty of opportunities, they’re just missing a considerable majority of their shots. That isn’t on KI. Even against Denver Irving gave up an open layup on the fast break to try and heat up Brown, he’s just too inconsistent.

If Irving shoots more than 15FGA, he’s not passing enough, and if he doesn’t shoot that often he’s too passive
