Why not just keep Marcus Morris?
Keep him if he fires his agent. Let him sign with the lakers

It appears DA has accepted a multi-year youth movement rather than a quick fix. However, if I’m wrong, Minnesota would appear to be the best target for a quicker path to competing. Target = KAT.

I too have always loved Saric. Perhaps he could be part of a larger package that takes us to competing sooner:

Karl-Anthony Towns
Jeff Teague
Dario Saric

For

Al Horford
Jayson Tatum

New Team:
PG: Teague
SG: Brown
SF: Hayward
PF: Saric
C: Towns

I don't love the idea of acquiring a cheap player that will be coming off his rookie contract. How much are we really willing to pay for him moving forward?

He's an interesting player, though.

We'd have to throw in a whole bunch of trade compensation for Minnesota to do this, or instead take back Dieng rather than Teague (worse contract). Even taking back Dieng Minny would want picks, considering what they just saw AD get in return
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

He’s a complementary piece if we already have a championship roster. I’d pass.

He is a trade deadline player. Not going to do anything but bolster someone's bench.

Wish we could trade Yabs for Siakam, after all he was drafted ahead of him... But now we could offer Yabs, 14 and 20 and the the Raptors will say no...
This is how a player development is so vital in improving a franchise.. Our player development has been horrendous.

If Minnesota is looking at someone at 14, I think Yabu and 14 is extremely reasonable for a very good, bench role player like Saric. Plug him right into Morris' slot and save some money. As for him becoming a RFA, the year after, so what? We still control where he will be that following year.

I think this would be a good use of the 14th pick as I have no faith in landing anyone who will be as good as Saric in the teens or the twenties of this draft.

Good idea.

Have always liked Saric as a player.

Minnesota would probably want Tatum.

So, let's break this down. It's the offseason so why not have some fun with wacky hypothetical scenarios (even if I get rude responses.)

Say we can sign D'Angelo Russell by carving out cap space and renouncing Kyrie, Rozier, Morris, yada yada

Trade Tatum for Saric and the #11 pick. Sign and trade Horford to Houston for Capela.

You would have a team of Russell/Brown/Hayward/Saric/Capela. That's a pretty good team (IMO) with Smart, Baynes, Robert Williams and Ojeleye coming off the bench. Then you could draft some good talent with our picks like PJ Washington (no.11), Nickeil-Alexander Walker (no.14),Cameron Johnson (no. 20) and Goga Bitzade (no.22). You get shooting, size and athleticism with our picks.

It’s definately silly season isn’t it ::)

It was a bad idea, I admit it.

Now that AD is off the table, Towns is probably Ainge's next target.

In fact, next summer it wouldn't surprise me if Towns wants out, after Minnesota has another losing season.

That's why I think it's important to draft a good power forward in this year's draft.

An asset in a potential deal for a guy like Towns.

Of course now the only obstacle is would Minnesota would want to trade another franchise player to Boston? I would think if we had the best package, it shouldn't matter.
