Ringer did a great analysis of why our team is very dependent on a healthy Al Horford, and that much of our decline this season has been due to his lack of minutes, and decline due to his age and injury.  Great read. See link below.

Cannot build a team around a mid 30s pf who has been playing center for a decade and expect it to be sustainable.

Another key is the absence of Hayward.
That makes the team better as well

I think the article is spot on.  Horford at his full powers is the only way the Celts can really give opposing teams headaches other than Kyrie going off.

The Celts need both in order to get where they want to go.

I’m not buying the knee excuse.

If it’s hurting him, sit. It’s not going to get better by playing, so even though we are missing Baynes, I’d rather he get right ASAP.

I mentioned this last year that the elephant in the room in Horford’s age and decline as our long term contender status.

I mentioned this last year that the elephant in the room in Horford’s age and decline as our long term contender status.

That's why we need to trade him this summer to get Davis.

The Celtics are not winning a championship the upcoming years unless they bring in another (super)star. You can't win it all with only one All Star. And it would be foolish to just wait till Tatum and Brown may reach that level. So we have to make a big trade soon (probably in the summer), since now we still have valuable expendable assets.

Anthony Davis is a recurring name, but it doesn't seem likely that another star comes available who's a long-term solution and a good fit for the team. Maybe a small chance that Towns would want out of Minnesota? Gamble on Porzingis or Sabonis, although unlikely that the respective franchises would want to part with either. Or do we go for a less appealing name in Nurkic or Vucevic with the hope that they will sustain the level of their career year?

Spot on -- Horford is so important to this team.
