He has regressed massively on defence. Like, an unreasonable amount.

I'd comfortably say he's our worst defender now. It used to be arguable between he and Kyrie, but Kyrie has improved whereas Jayson has continually become worse
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)

C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Well if you notice he rarely gets help and he is a prime rotation/help defender. So yes he plays defense. He is probably better than half the team at covering weak side. But in comparison to Smart, Horford, Baynes and Brown he isn't there on one on one defense.

The problem with Tatum is he still has the body of a college kid.

That will change once he gets stronger and his body matures.

But by that time, he will be playing for the Pelicans.

Tatum starting over Brown or Hayward is criminal at this point. Totally comes off as DA or BS not wanting to bench a high profile pick.

I remember many of us here bashed on Kyrie last year when he got traded over because of his poor defense.

I feel Tatum has regressed this season. Could it be his Kobe workouts? Or what is it.

Rarely.

Brown maybe, Hayward no. Morris needs to go to the bench.

No, and it's such a shame too. He has all of the physical tools, but rarely uses them now.

I think the onus has to be on Tatum. He worked out for what, 2-3 days with Kobe? I don't think that those workouts mysteriously brainwashed him. I think he got very ahead of himself. And in all fairness to Kobe, despite being overrated on defence, he still made a dozen All-Defence teams.

I believe that the post-season and off-season really got into JT's head, and he started to buy his own hype. Maybe he started to believe he was the next Melo / PP (both of whom were approximately 20PPG guys by their sophomore season), and who both arguably played better defence than Tatum (arguable for Melo at least, PP there's no argument).

However, both of those guys made massive jumps in production from their 2nd to 3rd season. Melo went from 21/6/2.5 to 27/5/3, and PP went from 19.5/5.5/3 to 25/6.5/3. Maybe Tatum does similarly and jumps to a 20PPG guy next season, for us or for New Orleans, but at the moment we'd be lucky if he turned into Danny Granger

I have noticed a few plays where he shows complete apathy. In one play last night, he 'helped' of his defender in the corner, by helped I mean got a front row seat to watch the lay up. You either provide help defence and try to disrupt the guy driving, or you stick close to your man. The in between laziness is awful.
