So what does this mean for the draft? I had seen picks being part of the trade. Would they now draft for themselves or draft for the team Hayward might be traded to?

I also thought the same as others have mentioned. They're working on a trade.

If they could do Hayward + #14 to Indiana for Turner and Warren, I'd love that. Fills a need at C (who is also young) and gives us a nice scoring option off the bench in Warren. You could then use the MLE to acquire another decent player like Baynes to fill out the depth and bench.

To be honest I think at this point it's a "worst kept secret" that Hayward won't be here. He's already out the door IMO, whether it's by his own choice or the intentions of Danny and the organization.

So it looks like this most logical thing going on here is buying more time for a trade I think.

Also extending it to Thursday does not mean he can't opt in tomorrow if they find a deal.  If they  do then the picks will be made for that team.  I think it's possible we know tomorrow some time where he goes.

Basically Hayward is holding the opt-out as leverage. Celtics can't move him until he opts in, or unless he agrees to a sign and trade. He probably made it clear unless the c's and himself could find a mutually agreeable trade he was gonna opt out. Extending the deadline gives both sides more time to find such a trade thus leaving Gordon more options while also allowing the c's to actually get something for him.

Sounds like also he cant get the type of money he is looking for on the free market. Opt in for this last big money. And then join a team where he is not 2nd fiddle to Brown, Tatum, Walker. So he could try to get one last max deal

Think it is safe to say Hayward’s days as a Celtic are over.

Yup. No ill will. He had brutal luck here. I kind of feel bad for him.

I think it's safe to assume they'll work out the trade on or before draft night so that it's clear who is making the picks.

Think it is safe to say Hayward’s days as a Celtic are over.

That’s definitely the most likely option.

If Indy wants to clear the books, what about Hayward and picks for Turner and Oladipo?

Long shot, but if they don't want to tie up a ton of money in the near future, that's an option.

SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark

I dont like this bc Oladipo is coming off a pretty bad injury

If anything stick with Turner for Hayward. And maybe like the 2020 30th pick

Trade definitely seems most likely, but could also see this them continuing to work on an extension.
