Al Jefferson is almost the classic example you can use to show why you should trade young players for veterans. Of course, Jaylen Brown is the inverse of that, so it works both ways. But I recall quite vividly how much the potential of Jefferson was debated on this board (or whatever prior iteration there was) and then when he was traded, even for someone like KG, there was still that what if on Jefferson being discussed. That obviously all went away when Boston started out awesome and just kept right on rolling all season long and obviously in retrospect Jefferson never really reach the heights most of us thought he would. He had a nice career, but was not the All NBA type player we thought he could be.
Al also suffered as much as anyone from the way the NBA has changed over the last 15 years. He was a masterful post player. If he had been drafted in the 80's or 90's he'd have made a bunch of all star games.
