KG was my favorite NBA player so I was thrilled when we got him. Allen, not so much, but obviously that's what it took to land KG, so it all made sense in the end.
Pretty much where I was at.  Wasn’t a fan of the allen trade but obviously we didn’t have all the information at that time. Without allen there is no kg, AND, Allen ended up outperforming the #5 pick anyway.

As for the kg trade, I found it crazy that ANYONE could have been against it.

Nobody is going to admit that they were all in on the Yi Jianlian train, huh?

I really liked Corey Brewer and Brandan Wright in that draft, haha.

Yeah, I remember you & I being big Brewer guys on here.  Horford falling to #5 was my pipedream with Brewer being my #2.

I know I sure as heck wanted no part of "The Chairman", though!
I always wonder if a guy like Yi would have made it to a real career had he been elsewhere.  Where you are drafted matters so much.  Like if the Pistons took Carmelo instead of Darko, how do both those guys end up?

Al Jefferson is almost the classic example you can use to show why you should trade young players for veterans.  Of course, Jaylen Brown is the inverse of that, so it works both ways.  But I recall quite vividly how much the potential of Jefferson was debated on this board (or whatever prior iteration there was) and then when he was traded, even for someone like KG, there was still that what if on Jefferson being discussed.  That obviously all went away when Boston started out awesome and just kept right on rolling all season long and obviously in retrospect Jefferson never really reach the heights most of us thought he would.  He had a nice career, but was not the All NBA type player we thought he could be.
Al also suffered as much as anyone from the way the NBA has changed over the last 15 years. He was a masterful post player. If he had been drafted in the 80's or 90's he'd have made a bunch of all star games.
