Free agent F Noah Vonleh has agreed to a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics, source tells ESPN. Vonleh will go to training camp with the hopes of making the roster.

He’s a big who can shoot right? This sounds like a pretty good signing, especially if he shows he’s good enough to stay on. Like a more mobile Kornet!

Wasn't he in the same draft as Smart?

Yes, as were Stauskas and Jabari Parker.  We’ve now had four of the top 10 from that class.

Brad scraping the bottom of the barrel with Vonleh and Caboclo

I wonder if he's doing this to make Kornet look good by comparison in the eyes of the fan base.

Vonleh is a local kid, which is pretty cool. He was born is Salem, MA and went to Haverhill High School. Is now 26 years old.

Last year for the Shanghai Sharks, he played 25mpg and averaged: 15pts, 10rebs, 2.3ast, 2stls, 1.5blks, while shooting 44% from the field, 38% from 3pt and 73% from the line. I’m slightly intrigued.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

These are the type of guys I like to see him bring in.  Former top prospects in their mid-to-late 20s who should be at the peak of their basketball abilities agewise.  For a spot or two in the back of the roster, I think they’re good low-cost options to start the season, even understanding they aren’t guaranteed to make the roster.

I do think we’ll get one more established player at the minimum, but that market has frozen thanks to Kevin Durant.  The ringchasers  don’t know where to sign yet.

How many guys are we allowed to bring to training camp?  Is it still 20?

So, for now, we have 12 roster players + two 2-ways + two camp invites?

I guess Yabusele  will be next.

I was in favor of signing Vonleh a couple of seasons ago. Totally forgot about him.

I have no issue with the invites. Youngish guys that once showed something.

I still want a couple of proven vets, not major reaches signed, but as you said, the market has kind of been frozen.

Correct, still 20, so we have four spots yet to fill.

Yabu didn't look half bad when I saw him in the Olympics.

I actually saw him play a few times for real madrid and he looked solid there, don't know if i just saw random games where he shot well but it seemed like he could hit threes a little better now. I am still for signing Vonleh anyone is better than kornet who is literally a stiff with no upside. Think we need some rebounding and solid D from a third string center more than we need terrible lateral quickness that can hit threes.

hes not a bad 3rd option- plus he gets after it on defense.
