Celtics can only offer a 5 year/$174 million contract to Kyrie. Being traded from the team that drafted him nullifies his eligibility for a supermax.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Kyrie is now also eligible for the super max contract that only the Celts can offer.

That's not true. Supermaxes can only be offered by teams that drafted a player.

Is this true? Or is it bird rights that matter?

Nick is right. Bird rights don't apply once you've been traded from the original drafted team, Kyrie also waived his trade kicker despite reports that Celtics were not his desired destination.

I still think we have the best chance of re-signing Irving than anyone. But I've said the exact sentence to Durant in OKC's perspective.
"I bomb atomically, Socrates' philosophies and hypotheses
Can't define how I be dropping these mockeries."

Is the glass half-full or half-empty?
It's based on your perspective, quite simply
We're the same and we're not; know what I'm saying? Listen
Son, I ain't better than you, I just think different

nope.  2nd team.  I mean I really don't see how could unseat either Giannis or George.  They both quite simply had better (and healthier) seasons.

  • Everybody knows what's best for you
Congrats to Kyrie! Clear career highs in assists and rebounding alongside elite efficiency and his best defence to date, while still scoring 24PPG.

Amen to this! Congratulations, Kyrie - you may have said a few things that rubbed people the wrong way, but you had a great season and we were lucky to have you. Hopefully we are lucky enough to have you for another 5 years. Don't listen to all the haters - they are the vocal minority.

Celtics can only offer a 5 year/$174 million contract to Kyrie. Being traded from the team that drafted him nullifies his eligibility for a supermax.

To clarify this even further: traded players are eligible for the supermax, so long as they were traded during their rookie contracts. Kyrie was dealt while on his second contract, and thus isn’t eligible.

Kawhi only played 60 games and Paul George had an MVP-caliber season.

All I know is, it is most definitely deserved.

Kyrie was a beast this past season.

Among all guards this past season Kyrie finished

4th in win shares (despite playing only 33 minutes per game, far less than those players ahead of him)
9th in rebounds
11th in assists
9th in steals
14th in blocks
7th in ppg
10th in FGA, yet among all the top 15 players to take the most shots, shot the highest FG%
9th in TS% among players who played at least 42 games and 25 minutes per game.

Simply a fantastic season.

The 2nd team would crush the 1st team if they played, IMO.

Congrats to Kyrie. Here is hoping many more years of making that team while a member of the Celtics.
