It is pretty obvious they are tanking.

Of course.   Lakers management has 3 primary strategies: Tank (get good fortune in the draft), Trade for cap relief, and Sign top FAs.   When any of these go bad, they have brief trouble.  Good news for them is that historically they've always got their man with 5 years or so -- from Wilt to Kareem to Magic to Kobe to Shaq to Pau and now Lebron.   They've made some good decisions -- but when Kobe won't work out for anyone but them, and when most FAs or trade targets list LAL as their desired destination, it makes life in the front office a little easier.

In the last 6 years, no NBA team has lost more games than the Lakers. Good luck with the tanking this year. Unless Silver pulls a "Ewing" and LAL gets #1 pick

That's pretty amazing considering the Sixers Process tanked for the first 3 of those seasons and the 4th season was an end of season tank due to Embiid's meniscus injury.

Jackson and Van Gundy mentioned this yesterday, and I agree about how they made a mistake trading Zubac to the Clippers.

He could've been a very serviceable center for them.

Magic and the Rob Lowe look-a-like are a couple idiots.

Jerry West was the best thing to happen to The Lakers and they let him slip away and he's helping to make decisions over at the Clippers now.

Lakers are trying to improve their draft position to improve their offer this summer, particularly now with Ingram's health issues

Lakers are now in the "Dark Ages".

6 straight seasons of missing the playoffs.

Laker fans can thank Jimmy Buss for sinking the Lakers into the abyss.

They really are.  And I've seen the real Rob Lowe trying to look smart on Bill Maher.  It didn't work.  He's an idiot.

Yet, in the last 6 years, they’ve had numerous stars declare their desire to play there, one top prospect “insist” on being selected there, bested their projected draft position twice (during their run of 3 #2s in a row), and signed the best player in the league (at the time).

Despite their front office gaffs, their losing, and their failure as an organization over the past 6 years, they remain in contention for every top FA and are only a decision from KL, Klay, or KD away from being in the mix or even a contender. And if not this off-season, AD lurks next summer.

Tanking is when you are deliberately losing.
They are just plain bad.
So no, Lakers are not tanking.
