Marcus has left a heartfelt message on Twitter dedicated to his late mother

I lost my dad a year ago at 73 to the same thing. It is not easy.

I lost my dad a year ago at 73 to the same thing. It is not easy.

My condolences to you and the Smart family. I lost my Mom last year to cancer (she was 69).

She raised one hell of a competitor. Marcus has a fierceness to him that I have seen from very few athletes in my lifetime. I'm sure a lot of that he gained from her.

Glad she was able to see him get his contract from us... I feel like I had seen somewhere that she really wanted him to resign with the Celtics. She must've been so proud of him.
