The Boston Celtics have signed head coach Brad Stevens to a contract extension.

Happy to hear this! Sure, he has some flaws, but he's still a Top-6 coach in the league IMO and it's not his fault some things haven't panned out as we hoped (Kyrie saga, all the injuries, etc.). There were rumors he could decide to go back to coach in college a few years from now, but I assume this locks him up in Boston for a long time. Specific terms haven't been released, though they probably won't be anyways.

Top-6 is being conservative, in my opinion.

LOL. .... heck ...i don't know ....for me personally I think he lacks a good deal in the motivation dept in my book .  I always needed inspiration, a kick in my rear end from my coach or old man to get me to the highest level .     He is kind man  , maybe a good teacher , caring , loyal and  compassionate coach for the players private lifes  ,  but i have my doubts as to his leadership abilities .  so TP for having the guts to speak up,

Any word on the length of the extension?

I believe he had two more seasons after this one concludes.

His lack of calling a timeout in dire game situations irks me, and feel like his ATO execution hasn't been stellar unlike a couple of years ago.

Plus, he coached the team for about 7 years and still haven't made it to one NBA Finals appearance yet. Feeling meh about it

Really happy to have him stay on board. I realize that he may not be everything everybody wants him to be, but he is a great coach and understands the game as well as anybody out there. In this age of advanced analytics, there are very few people I would want leading the way for our exciting young (and experienced) players.

We are very lucky as Cs fans to have him; look at what so many other franchises go through in their search for a decent head coach. In addition, he does not have the type of temperament to wear out his welcome and is universally respected by players and coaches around the league. This is a great (re-)signing for the Cs.

Are we seriously going to blame Brad for not making the finals? This is a bit preposterous in my opinion, and I'd 100% believe you if you said you were joking.

any word whether the Cs were able to get him to agree to a timeout monitor.

I laugh at people who think that these coaches are going back to college. Have you checked out the life of an NBA coach?

Finals coaches last 7 years(appearances/wins)
Steve Kerr(5/3)
Tyronn Lue(3/1)
Erik Spoelstra(2/1)
Gregg Popovich(2/1)
Nick Nurse(1/1)
David Blatt(1/0)

Not so sure about Blatt and Lue.
Looks like LeBron, Steph, Kawhi, and KD.
We would need to look at the conference finals coaches.
