Finally in a rain delay.

That Pena RBI might've saved the Rays season for now.  He doesn't get that, and it could very well be a Phillies win on account of rain and series over.

It'll be interesting to see if they get this game running again tonight or even tomorrow.  Forecast doesn't look good.

If you're talking about anything other than a potential World Series game clincher, this thing is getting called right now (or should've got called an hour ago).

They are playing in a monsoon.

MLB lucked out when Tampa scored that run.  Now, they can suspend this game, instead of having to call it in Philly's favor.  Ending the World Series on a rain-shortened game would have been weak.

I'm curious when they're going to be able to finish this off.  If the weather tomorrow is as bad as expected, there's a chance that they won't be able to play.  If the game is pushed to Wednesday, how do you handle that?  Do you delay Game 6?  Do you play Game 6 (and maybe Game 7) as scheduled, and play Game 5 after?

It will be interesting to see.

Definitely right about MLB dodging a bullet there.  It would've looked pretty bad (at least to everyone besides Phillie fans) if the series ended on a rain-shortened game.

To answer your question, I think they'll push everything back.  Home field plays a factor here.  Games 6 & 7 are in Tampa so this is the last chance that the Phillies have for home field advantage (aka batting in the bottom of the 9th, etc...)  They got to resolve this game first.  If it means pushing the series into November (if Tampa wins), so be it.  It's been done before and you won't have to worry about inclement weather at Tropicana Field.

It also raises some interesting questions if this game is called.

1) If you're Tampa, do you start Shields when this game is resumed?  Or just ride the bullpen?

2) All of a sudden, if there is a day or two delay, if you're Philly you can think about bringing back Hamels to start a possible Game 7 on three days or even full days rest.

Good for them, I was legitimately happy for them... but I have to say the Red Sox would have killed them.

Congrats to the Phillies.  One good thing about this whole mess with the weather, the game must've ended at a half-way decent time, giving the majority of fans, young and old, the ability to watch their team clinch the Series.

I didn't get home until just after the game ended.  I thought the thing Fox did where they showed about 12 different guys reactions to the final out in rapid succession was kinda cool.  I wouldn't want to see it after every championship now, but I liked it.
