A radical idea that most probably won’t come to pass but makes sense.

Celtics trade: Brown, Smart, Williams, Sac pick, Clippers pick, 2020 Celtics pick

76ers trade: Simmons

With the freed up cap space from Irving and Horford opting out then resigning on a long team friendly deal, Celtics can go after elite defined role players like Danny Green, Bogdanovic, Dedmon/Baynes

I know people dislike Simmons because of his broken jump but Stevens would be the few coaches out there to maximise him until his jumper is fix, his passing for us would be elite in the fast break then he would shift into the post in the half court, where Hayward and Horford control the ball.

Horford
Tatum
Hayward
Green
Simmons

This line up would be an elite defense and keep us competitive in the short and long term

76ers would also have much more of a functional offense around Embiid and given they may lose Butler and Harris, the extra picks would offer more trade incentives for depth.

I really don't like Simmons' fit next to Hayward. In fact, I don't like Simmons' fit at all. His offensive game is absolutely awful in the half-court, and if we want to be a genuine playoff team then that's just not sustainable unless we have a genuine star talent (like Philly does with Embiid).
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

It’s essentially the same type of strategy Bucks have for The Greek Freak but in this case our ‘role’ players are all much better

I disagree. Giannis can actually hit a 3 pointer. He's not good, but there is a huge difference between a guy who shoots 30% on 3 attempts from deep a game and a guy who has never ever hit a 3 point shot in his NBA career. Simmons is also around a 10-15% worse shooter from the FT line than Giannis, and can't generate free throws at nearly the same rate.

Plus, Middleton was an All-Star this season. That's nothing anyone on our team can say besides Kyrie.

Stevens wouldn't know what to do with Simmons.  How does someone who won't take 3pt shots fit with a coach whose offensive scheme is focused on everyone taking 3s?

Ben Simmons does not know what to do with Ben Simmons.

Pass, more hype than substance, has a flawed game and does not seen inclined to improve on his lack of jumper.   Plays too passive.

Two things wrong with this trade:

1. Marcus Smart can't be included in this deal, as his contract throws the required matching salaries way out of proportion.

2. Philly wouldn't even consider trading Simmons, especially for this proposed deal.

Yuch

I like Brown more than Simmons. You lost me there.

If we made this trade, we'd be even worse than if we did nothing and just let Kyrie/Rozier/Morris all walk.

They should, since it would make them a better team.

Embiid
Harris
Butler
Brown / Redick
Smart
