The Wannamaker-Williams pick and roll is gonna low key be one of the most insta-offense, plug and play, hyper-efficient, second unit attacking options in the entire NBA.

Is that movie on Netflix?

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

It wouldn't the worst thing available on Netflix by any stretch

I just watched Goin' South (1978).  A comedy starring and directed by Jack Nicholson.  It has John Belushi and Christopher Lloyd and a bunch of other familiar faces.  I can't believe I'd never seen it.  Pretty funny.  Great to see all of those guys young (and alive).
Yup

Looks like Sony and Marvel have made up, so Spiderman will be getting a 3rd Marvel stand alone film and be included in another Marvel movie.

Thank you Marvel and Sony. Spiderman is by far the most interesting Earth based hero left in the MCU and by God, I want to see more of J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson.

I just watched the Between Two Ferns movie, and it's worth it for the BTS stuff at the end alone. If you like Between Two Ferns, you're gonna love the Between Two Ferns movie.

Knocked out some of the classics I've yet to see over the last month.  Watched Taxi Driver (1976), A Clockwork Orange (1971), Full Metal Jacket (1987), and Deliverance (1972).  Thought they were all pretty "meh."  Liked Taxi Driver and Deliverance the best, Full Metal Jacket the least.

Taxi Driver was just okay.  Didn't really buy De Niro's descent into madness.  Ending was cool.  Middle felt a little dragged out, and the reason for De Niro wanting to assassinate the Presidential candidate didn't seem clear.

A Clockwork Orange was strange (though that's fine, as I was expecting strange).  The actions of the main character were disturbing, but I don't think he was portrayed well as disturbed/evil.  From arrest to conversion therapy seemed too long and didn't add anything to the story for me.  All the classical music in such a deranged film didn't do it for me either.  Heavy English accents and vernacular also probably didn't help me enjoy it.

Full Metal Jacket.  Wanted to watch another Kubrick film after A Clockwork Orange (and since I love the Shining).  The boot camp part was cool, and seemed the most Kubrick-esque, but the Vietnam War part (which was the longest) just seemed long and boring, and didn't really deliver on the ending for me.  And I didn't even pick it up while watching, had to get it from the reviews, but I totally missed the main character was supposed to get the 1,000 yard stare at the end (becoming emotionally detached from the horrors around him).

Deliverance was just okay.  Everything up until the "squeal like a pig" scene was cool, but I was anticipating something else happening after that, more of a cat and mouse game I guess, with the mountain people pursing the city folk, but it was all just in their head.  Had to go back and rewatch the scene where the guy was "shot" out of the canoe and Jon Voight killed the hillbilly (wasn't sure if they were the same or different) because to me the movie didn't make it clear what happened.

Personally didn't think any of these movies held up well over the  years.

Next on the list of older films I want to watch, The Deer Hunter.

Jeez, you really went for the dark stuff.

I just rewatched Taxi Driver and love it. I think it's Deniro's best performance. I think it rewards multiple viewings.

A Clockwork Orange I don't care for. I think Kubrick's point is muddy and the acting is awful.

The acting in Deliverance is great, though. I loved that movie just for that. Even the hillbillies who seem lik actual scary hillbillies. Rednecks were never scarier than in the 70's.

Haven't seen Full Metal Jacket yet.

I did just watched Hustlers, though, and liked it. Get ready for the J Lo oscar campaign. It's coming and I am on board. She's really terrific in the movie. As is Contance Wu. Not a great movie but a really good one.

Saw Blindness not long ago. If you are looking for a pretty dark movie, this one is actually pretty good. I wasn't expecting the turns it went into, but the story and the cinematography is definitely worth it by itself.

The premise of the movie is that people are going blind. That's it. The rest you'd have to watch.

Midsommar. Really enjoyed it. Slow, hypnotic burn with a lot of great shots + imagery.

THEMATIC SORT-OF SPOILER (highlight text to read)

It's a breakup movie disguised as a horror film. Pretty cool to look back over it through that lens.

I went to the movies twice today (I’m in Chattanooga by myself waiting for Sunday’s Ironman).  I saw Ad Astra which I thought was pretty good and well done.  I’ll give it a 4 out of 5.  Then I went back and saw the new Rambo.  I realize the movie wasn’t good (and complete garbage compared to the Creed movies) but I was pretty entertained.  I’m not sure if it’s a bad thing or good thing that I was laughing for a lot of the ending even though it was supposed to be serious.  Either way, I was entertained by it.  The movie itself would have to get like 2 stars out of 5 but it entertained me a lot more than that.

Saw "Ad Astra" in theaters.

Was blown away by the special effects and the somewhat "realism" of their future portrayal.   However, I felt the third act was a bit of a letdown.    Also, I think they tried a little too hard to be "2001"-ish.  Could've done without the voice-over.

The trouble of having multiple tabs open. Wrong thread

Anyway, I got to see Hobbs and Shaw and I am getting the sense that on a certain level, Dwayne Johnson is the new Will Smith. He knows what he is good at and leverages that to stick to roles that suit his personality, and churn out perfectly serviceable hits.
