The return is so disappointing.
It is, but it makes a lot of sense. He was an expiring contract and it never made sense to pay both him and Brady.

Getting a pick in the top 3 or 4 picks of the second round is pretty good value.

Im dissapointed. Felt we could have had a late first for him, but its not egregious at all.

Plus, in bill we trust.

Jimmy polo is an UFA after this year and had no incentive to come back as a backup so I'm all for getting something rather than nothing after the year. But we def could have traded him for at least a late 1st this past draft and kept brissett.. I expect another move to come before Thursday for either a linebacker or maybe even another wide receiver. Maybe martavis Bryant from pitt??
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

Id been pretty against getting a wideout, but with the way our red zone offense has struggled, maybe a big target like Bryant could be worth taking a flier on. Unfortunately, I dont see Pitt being super excited about sending a talented player to their nemesis.

My thoughts exactly especially with hogan getting hurt yesterday. And I completely agree that although Bryant is kind of forcing his way out I doubt Pitt wants to send him to a conference rival

Poor Jimmy G. Four years as a Patriot, all that hype, and a slew of Patriots fans still can't spell his name right.

He's no "Robert Parrish," but still.

No backup? No problem.

Backup QBs are a dime a dozen, and besides, if Brady goes down, this team isn't going anywhere anyway. The Pats have multiple pressing needs right now, and this pick can be used to address at least one of them.

If we were going to end up having to rely on a backup QB for significant time, then the season would be over anyway.

Schefter reporting the 49ers will release Brian Hoyer and since he is great friends with Brady and familiar with the Pats system will be signed by New England as Brady's backup.

I'm just wondering why they felt this was the time to do it.

Surely the leverage would've been better at the draft?

Haha. I would have said no to this trade, only b/c I'm not convinced that Jimmy G would lose us playoff games. In fact, I think he could beat KC in the playoffs if Brady went down.

I guess Belichick thinks less of him, and he would know better. That, or he is very confident that Brady will stay healthy. Bill has good reason to be confident.

Hoyer is meh. I don't think he beats KC. Hope it doesn't come down to that.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

CONSPIRACY THEORY:

- Patriots trade JG10 for a 2018 2nd rounder

- Patriots re-sign JG10 either this offseason, OR in 2019 (since he gets franchised by SF in 2018).

Oh man that would be awesome  ;D

OTHERWISE, I have no clue why this move was made and wonder if someone slipped something into Belichick's drink or something...  ???  :P

Anyways, SIGN KAP!
