I bet he sits still and doesn't do anything. Bruschi was saying if the Pats trade Gilmore at the deadline it makes Bill's "show up and do your job" mantra meaningless because it would be a sign he was giving up on the season. OTOH if they try to bring in a player for picks it might be throwing good money in after bad, so to speak. So we will probably do nothing and spin our wheels for the rest of the season.

His ego is also the reason why the Patriots lost Superbowl LII, the mysterious benching of Malcolm Butler and all. So, he needs to do his job by trading some key players to get some picks in return and get this team to a better future.
