Great that Kyrie's being recognized. But so many awful takes in those votes. Dwyane Wade ahead of Dipo and Beal is a crime. What is Derrick Rose doing in the 2 spot in the West ahead of James Harden?! Luka Doncic is ahead of Durant, George, and Davis?!?!  Uh.

While I don't necessarily agree with it, I feel like some times these hall of famers on their retirement tour get extra votes.
Hence all-star game.

It's about who the public wants to see play. It's not the "best of the best" game.
Precisely. Lots of people (I imagine) want to see LeBron team up with Wade again

I see what you’re saying; that’s one meaning of “all-star”.  I don’t think it’s as clear-cut as you’re saying, tho. People have different ideas. Some us think quality of current play matters more, and people sometimes talk that way. When people say a guy is playing at an all-star level, I think they mean he’s one of the best players in the game - not that he used to be great and we’d like to see him again even though he’s a bench player now.

Personally, I’d like to see the game recognize the best players. The old guys already had their turn.

Oh no doubt. I actually think the league agrees with you, after the whole incident where Zaza was nearly voted into the game. I just don’t know if there’s any way to avoid these kind of things with fan involvement

Well, the starters are chosen by fans, players and media so there is still a decent chance Wade and Rose don't get voted in as starters. Doncic could have the same thing happen but with 3.3 million votes, maybe gets through.

Doncic might actually be deserving of starting though given the injuries to some of the other front court players.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Even if you knock out Lebron due to injuries, KD, AD, PG and Jokic would all deserve to start over Doncic.

I don't get the notion of deserving to start in the All-Star game, because it's purely about who people want to see.

I think it gets too highly valued when people try and determine how good a player is, because they've "made X amount of All-Star games" or whatever, but it's just a fan service. If the All-Star game was the 5 best players from each conference starting with the next best guys on the bench it would be completely different.

Almost perfect. I have to admit.

Only mistake is that a real big (Anthony Davis!!!) should have been voted in.

Next time they should split voting into: 2 guards, 2 forwards, 1 center.

They do because every year some ridiculous guys get player votes. They're anonymous though.
