Yeah, ET owes a lot of his contract to BradIT, Crowder, Turner... everyone getting their revenge game :-\
I doubt Turner resents the Celtics like the other two. He knew they weren't going to re-sign him and they revitalized his career making him a ton of money.

It's a good matchup for Hayward tonight. I would also see Robert Williams matched on Zach Collins, when Collins is in the game.I would settle for seeing Williams at all!

I still watch that dunk against Denver ;DIt's a good matchup for Hayward tonight. I would also see Robert Williams matched on Zach Collins, when Collins is in the game.I would settle for seeing Williams at all!
Me too. Every time he plays he brings in some very good manic energy.
I'm praying to the basketball gods that some of these wide open shots fall tonight. I'm also hoping Brad utilizes Hayward better. I'd like to see Gordon as the primary ball handler over rozier and smart for the time kyrie is resting. It seems like every time we have Gordon initiate the offense he makes a beautiful pass or get an open mind range. I'd much rather have him doing that than sitting in the corner waiting for a rozier kick out pass that's never going to happen.Agree on that, having Rozier run the point is really just brutal. Dribbles around for 20 seconds without being a threat.
Theis is probable ! Good news!
I'm genuinely beginning to dislike this team. Not only did they not get the rebound off of that free throw, the ball actually hit the floor first. This team is soft as all hell.
How about a timeout Brad? We're bad at both ends of the floor.
This looks familiar. Opponents are scoring in the paint while we're relying on jumpers.more to the point, celtics playing soft on defense. celtics have taken more shots close to the basket than portland. so that is not the story so far.

Interesting - Al got pulled early. Between that and him on the bench in crunch time in Utah, it makes you wonder if that's a bit of a message to him for his lackluster play early in the year thus far.Sure hope so. He's been more Average Al than Awesome Al

Tatum stepped on a fan's foot after that last jumper and twisted his ankle a bitYeah, as soon as his shot was falling too, ugh. Hopefully nothing serious

This team is regressing every game. They simply are a bad basketball team that has been overhyped.
Nothing changes whatsoever.

It's only been a few months since he was even cleared for 5 on 5 basketball.
They only play good in spurts. It's becoming maddening.yeah, the story of the season so far.
Put out Yabu and RWill simultaneously! The bigs aren't doing their jobs on this road trip.

This feels like the 1989 Pistons...had everyone back off a deep playoff run and just did not have any chemistry until they made a big trade.
Not sure when Boston is going pull out of this tailspin..but there are no real encouraging signs
I'd love to see Jaylen get some calls and how about a 3 second call on Portland?Ha, refereeing consistency? Ya joking!

Hayward is a negative against this team. If CBS wants to win tonight he will cut his minutes short.Half the players are negatives on this team.
Dame looks like Steve Nash, lol

Sheesh. This is a bleak take. If I didn't know the record, I'd think we were winless just reading this.
God, Al has been such a disappointment this season.Brick after brick after brick
Worst game of the season so farNo sense of urgency. Defense sucks. Can't hit the side of a barn offensively and we keep clanging them up from beyond the arc. Other than that they look great!
This feels like a blowout already. C's are so much slower on defense compared to them.
Well, we're not uncompetitive. We just have terrible stretches. We've still only had one loss that was over double digits (Toronto), and even then we shouldn't have lost by that much. This feels like the 1989 Pistons...had everyone back off a deep playoff run and just did not have any chemistry until they made a big trade.

Marcus Smart mode on offence is something I never wish to hear!God, Al has been such a disappointment this season.Brick after brick after brick
He's gone into Marcus Smart mode

If they miss the 3s it’s okay because Nurkic or any of their bigs grab the rebound and put it in.
Nobody even moved when Kyrie had the ball. Literally standing around watching.
This feels like a blowout already. C's are so much slower on defense compared to them.
I think their frustration from the offensive end is affecting their defense.
Body language says they are just ready to go home.
This team looks destined to be a 5th or 6th seed where everyone asks themselves why is that team so bad..They remind me of... the Wizards. Talented and should be better than they are but aren’t. Stephens has done an awful job so far this year.

I think we can reasonably start wondering whether this Celts team has the right chemistry. They are performing far far less than the sum of their parts. Something isn't working and they're not improving. This team should be an offensive juggernaut yet scoring buckets is like pulling teeth.
Jaylen needs to stop thinking he's going to win 5 championships before he's 28 and focus on making 5 shots so he has at least 10 points. It feels like this team is getting so far ahead of themselves in terms of how good they think they are - right now they're not very good and need to focus on the fundamentals.

Definitely. It should be the other way around, too - their defense fueling their offense. That's what has made us good the last several years.
Just no urgency or confidence whatsoever on this team right now, and that's on everyone - both the players and Brad.
We ought to trade for Carmelo. He'd be perfect on this team. We'll be able to sign him after he's cut soon enough! He can teach Tatum how to more of a weak defending bad-shot selecting point scorer

The "Run down chunk up a shot offense" might need a couple of tweaks...
Hey, this is what Brad wants apparently. No offensive actions at all; just everyone taking turns isoing and throwing up midrange jumpers or threes.
What's the point of playing a 5-out offense if (a) nobody is going to hit their shots, and (b) we're not going to take advantage of the spacing it provides and penetrate to the hole?
Our starting lineup needs a shake-up. With Theis back, I think going back to Baynes is probably the best play, and Gordon just has to understand that he can rehab just as well from the bench as he does the starting lineup.

It hurts that Brad isn't making an adjustment either.

Jump shot after jump shot
This starts from the coach and offensive philosophy. Cs are like dead lost in FTs generated. They play soft and it shows. And I think it has started to make their defense soft too.Jump shot after jump shot
Its like this team has forgotten how to drive and draw fouls.. Get to the FT line if you cant generate points by briking shots then they should drive and draw foul.
I don't know who performance is worse...the Celtics or the "Connection Problem"

Don’t Portland have any money? Why can’t they maintain their equipment?
How nice...rim is jacked up for Boston and then fixed for Potland
Looks like the Blazers court has gone the way of this forum.
Per the NBA’s stat site:
- No team has attempted a higher percentage of open shots than the Celtics (32.5 percent).
- The Celtics are 27th in FG% on open shots.

Beyond this, tonight will be the 9th (out of a total of 13) road game that we've played thus far, and we've played something like a top-3 most difficult schedule thus far.
So there certainly are things working against us with the road-heavy/difficult start to the schedule and us just simply missing open shots, but it certainly does say something about our offensive philosophy that we are that dependent upon jump shots in order to succeed.
One and done.
One and done.
so you agree with me that we needed to capitalize last year when we had the opportunity to get to finals because of the nightmare this year has been so far?

I'm talking about the shot selection lol
Uncle Drew to save us again, both by scoring and assisting.Lol. Terry regressing and quite obviously playing for a contract isn't helping his chances.
If anyone ever argues that we should take Terry at a lower salary over Kyrie again they should be banned from this forum. That talk is anathema on this forum.

Just an awful shot by Kyrie there. No need for that 3Was like a heat check without being hot
Where is this in the first halves of games??If we played like this for entire games we'd be awesome. Frustrating

Going iso with terry and Morris and doesn’t end well
Kyrie should have just taken that 3. Back to stupid offence
Why would Al pass up the shot to make Kyrie attempt a more difficult shot with time expiring?! SMH
Can't win games when you play about 10 minutes of functional basketball a night.

Turner's game would be useful on this team right now. Jaylen more than made up for it last season. He's been totally lost on the floor so far this season.Brown has 2 points this game
Why would Al pass up the shot to make Kyrie attempt a more difficult shot with time expiring?! SMH
Because Al morphed into Shaquille O'Neal from behind the arc this season.

finally was able to check in on the game. sounds like it was bad at first but now we are back in the game? same old same old, or some other reason we got behind early?

Our rim may or may not have been crooked.
I swear these foul calls are just arbitrary at times lol Like the last two fouls on the Blazers, how are those any different than regular contact each time down the court? It really makes no sense. Then you see Drummond and DeAndre Jordan go to war in the paint with no calls
Hit a freakin shot
Hit a freakin shotha ha ha..i know, that is the story. lots of open shots, not enough of them going in.
Or if Horford was Horford ;)Hit a freakin shotha ha ha..i know, that is the story. lots of open shots, not enough of them going in.
if hayward was hayward the celtics would be winning.
Still just totally reliant on the three ball...
Celtics took 18 (!) 3-pointers in the third quarter.
Briefly pulled within 5 but back to 13 now.
For god's sake, why do we not box out onFTFY3pt attemptsat all
we need to be aggressive going to the rim at the end of games

BEEN SAYIN THIS FOR TWO OR THREE YEARS NLOW
Oh my goodness, Al gets an offensive rebound RIGHT UNDER THE BASKET, doesn't even look to see if he's open, and passes it out to Brown for a three. Good Lord.Wasn't even a very good 3

More disappointing this season - Brown or Al? Both have been big reasons why we have been mediocre thus far.

I really didn't want him in the game down the stretch. Poor coaching decision by Brad.
Hayward, Al, and JB are holding this team back the most so far.And guess who is on the court? All 3 of them ::)
Jeesh. I like Aminu, but 25 footers aren't his game
Maybe we need to go get Korver and not let Philly acquire himHe'd arrive and start missing

Let's wait until this team gets back home and gets some practices in before declaring doom.i tend to agree
We had a tough opening schedule to the season, with a brutal road trip. We still showed a lot of fight in each of these games. Once this team gets back to practicing and some reasonable scheduling, they will be fine.

i expect Danny may not be the happy camper either with this team
Pitiful road trip. Hayward just doesn't need to be starting yet. He's not much of a threat to score the ball, and his defense has been bad. Al and Brown being no-shows clearly hasn't helped either, but I think replacing Gordon in the starting lineup makes the most sense right now.
I was a little sketchy with playing that small across the board with only one true big in Al out there anyways, but I thought it'd end up working out with our increased shooting and playmaking, along with still having lots of good, long defenders on the perimeter. But the fact that our offense isn't making up for our loss in size and defense (e.g. all those offensive boards tonight) points to me that we could do ourselves some good by either going more defense-oriented in the starting lineup (Baynes for Gordon) or offense-oriented in the starting lineup (Morris for Gordon).
At the very least it'd give us an identity to work around and not have us continuously get into these major holes that we have to fight so hard to get out of.

CBS seems determined to stickwith GH , rather play him back into form . Maybe at tye cost of alot of games.
sleep less, nights for CBS. right now
Well, they paid him $30 million a season and the biggest reason he came here was because of Brad so he probably feels like he owes him. So far it hasn't at all worked out like anyone expected, but ultimately Hayward needs to be a key part of this team because he's untradeable right now.Pitiful road trip. At the very least it'd give us an identity to work around and not have us continuously get into these major holes that we have to fight so hard to get out of.
CBS seems determined to stickwith GH , rather play him back into form . Maybe at tye cost of alot of games.

Satire? Can't really tell.
He's got a tough job at getting all of these pieces to mesh, and that will clearly take time that we should all give him plenty of time to address.
But it is a pretty big failure that he can't get these guys to play with consistent energy from quarter to quarter, let alone night to night. I know chemistry plays a part in that, but defensive energy shouldn't be affected by that all that much.
The hype clearly got to these guys' heads, and Brad even saw it in the preseason when he said we aren't as good as we think we are/as we are made out to be. Yet, he hasn't been able to figure out how to address it yet, and that's where the "not well-coached team" part is clearly accurate.
Brad: “we’re not a well coached team right now...we need to start games better”
Pitiful road trip. Hayward just doesn't need to be starting yet. He's not much of a threat to score the ball, and his defense has been bad. Al and Brown being no-shows clearly hasn't helped either, but I think replacing Gordon in the starting lineup makes the most sense right now.

Brad needs to coach better..... build two teams, use your depth.
