With Donovan McNabb traded for a 2nd round pick, anyone want to revisit the idea that the Pats didn't get fair value (or better) in trading Matt Cassell?
McNabb is on the downside of his career, Cassell hopefully still has the best yet to come. I do agree that a second round pick seems about right considering it in retrospect.

Looking at his play it looks like a great deal for the Pats.

I looked at it more as a comparison for the Cutler deal, where Denver did much much better than we did. Donovan is still good, so I think it the deal is pretty even.

I think Cutler had more of a track record, and certainly more hype overall.

It's extremely tough to pry a 1st rounder from another team and this year is genuinely regarded as a very deep draft from a talent-standpoint so its even more difficult.

Unless you're trading a bonafide cornerstone type in their prime or entering their prime, you're almost never going to get a 1st rounder back. (Unless you're dealing with the Raiders  ;) )

Also regarding picks, The Dallas draft scorecard from the Jimmy Johnson days is still widely regarded and utitlized around the league.
