Waters with 28 and Edwards with 26.... I just don’t understand how they just can’t perform at all once called up...
Maybe, just maybe, the level of competition has something to do with it. Maybe.

Waters looked good in his one game with Celtics.

Aside from shooting percentage anyway. He certainly looks the part of point guard, so he’s playing the role he knows. Edwards on the other hand, has been shooting corner 3s and not handling the ball, while we saw in preseason that he shoots better from around the arch and starting with the ball in his hands. He’s having to adjust his game more than Waters and it shows. Put him in his comfort zone and he shines. It will probably take most of this season before that happens at the NBA level.

An update! They're back and they are still winning! They beat Grand Rapids 108-103. The Crustaceans looked good and all the baby Celtics played. Here are some stats:

Waters in 31 minutes had 28 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 assists. He shot 8-8 FT and 3-4 on three pointers.

Edwards was at least as good in his 32 minutes. 28 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and SIX steals. A couple of them looked like he has learned some lessons from Marcus Smart as he tore the ball away from people. He shot 9-18 in all and 4-8 from three point territory.

Romeo made another injury free appearance. Baby steps. In 19 minutes he has ZERO points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 TO. He was 0-5 from the field. Sigh.

Fall also played. In 21 minutes, he had 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks. He was 2-5 from the field and 1-2 in FT.

I am a bit late, but our lovable lobsters won once more, pinching the Delaware Blue Coats 128 to 125.

Both Edwards and Waters played, and neither was particularly efficient. Their stats are:

Edwards:
36 minutes, 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, on 8-21 shooting and 3-13 from three point land.

Waters:
37 minutes, 16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. He shot an equally embarrassing 5-17 and 1-5 from three point range.

Watching Red Claws vs Delaware.  Edwards and Waters are struggling.  Edwards runs a pick and roll with Tacko and throws a behind the back pass down by Tacko's ankles.  Typical of how he's played so far.  He's not passing much and struggling with his handle.

Less than 30 seconds left in the game, another fabulous pinching victory!  ;D

Baby Celtics stats read as:

Edwards
37 min, 23 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists. Shot 10-21, 2-8 on 3 pointers.

Waters
37 min, 18 points, 4 rebounds, 11 assists. Shot 7-16, 2-6 on 3 pointers.

Fall
25 min, 13 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assists, 4 blocks. Shot 5-8, 2-6 on FT.

Edwards & Waters were both better in the 2nd half.  Tacko's best moments came with the 2nd unit, when the coach ran some high/low sets for him.  When he gets the ball one-on-one in near the basket, all anyone at that level can do is foul him. I thought he played really well.

I noticed Tacko's 2-6 FT line (54% for the season). FTs could end up being an important part of big part of his offense -- either as a Hack-a-Tack-o or with some FT prowess and teams reluctant to foul him, he will (should) be effective near the hoop.

For those who've followed him, what are the chances he becomes an effective FT shooter (>75%)?

They hacked him down in the final minute and he missed both FT's.  Personally I think its just hard for anyone that size to become a good FT shooter.  Hands are too big, arms are too long etc.  His form doesn't look all that bad though, so maybe he can get to 60% or so in time?  That may be the best we can hope for.

I think so. Which makes you think how skilled Yao really was.

as background, in four years of college ball he shot 43% FT. As a freshman he did make 55.8%. But as a senior he turned in a horrific 36%.  :P

So, at 54% he is showing improvement this year. I am sure he will be working on FT this year with the fighting crustaceans. even at 60% he would be acceptable for a bench role.

as reference and not indicative of anything for tacko, this year ben simmons shoots 58% FT, steve adams makes 51%, and tristan thompson is at 58%.

Really appreciate the insight around the FT capability at his size.

I know Wilt was an awful FT shooter, but I believe he shot better as an underhanded FT shooter than with his regular shot.  Tacko seems like a hard worker and a reasonably well-coordinated guy -- I wonder if he's tried the Rick Barry method.

A day late, but what the heck. Stats for baby Celtics from the Pincher-Clipper game, which the amazing crustaceans won 112 to 109.

Mr. Edwards
35 minutes, 21 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists. Yet, Mr. Efficient he was not, going 8-23 and 3-10 from 3 point land.

Mr. Fall
24 minutes, 11 points, 7 rebound, 2 assists, and SIX blocks. He was 4-5 from the field and 2-5 in FT.

For all you Tacko-philes, here are his highlights.

SPOILER ALERT: Tacko shows a hook shot.
