BOS In: Wiseman
BOS Out: Nesmith, Langford, 2022 1st, 2022 2nd, 2023 2nd
Comments: Bit of a discount on Wiseman given the uncertainty of his health moving forward. Wiseman does not make sense with Embiid, but definitely has value and Philly would love to stockpile some picks to attempt to save face on moving Simmons.
PHI In: Wiggins, Nesmith, Langford, BOS ‘22 1st, GSW ‘22 1st, GSW ‘23 Swap, GSW ‘25 1st, BOS ‘22 2nd, BOS ‘23 2nd
PHI Out: Simmons, Curry
Comments: Philly saves face with a borderline all-star in Wiggins and a haul of picks. Also buys some goodwill by helping unite the Curry brothers.
GSW In: Simmons, Curry
GSW Out: Wiggins, Wiseman, GSW ‘22 1st, GSW ‘23 Swap, GSW ‘25 1st
Comment: Can you imagine a Curry/Curry/Thompson/Green/Simmons lineup? With all those young guns learning the ropes off the bench? Can you imagine how good they’d be defensively with Green/Simmons? Can you imagine the marketing of their back-court? A real brother as one of the Splash Bros.?
It works in NBA Trade Machine, BTW.
At this point, a pick haul and Wiggins is probably the best they can hope for. Sending Wiseman our way makes sense considering he does not complement Embiid.
Would all 3 teams do it? Would you?
Here would be our 2021-2022 roster, with room to bring in a veteran PG/SG:
Schröder/Pritchard
Smart/Richardson
Brown/Hernangómez
Tatum/Horford/Parker/Williams
Wiseman/Timelord/Kanter/Fernando
Bit heavy in the front-court, so we’d want to see about moving Fernando or Kanter later in the year for back-court depth.
Wonder if Wiseman or Timelord could one day switch to the 4, leaving us with the following heading into the 2022 offseason (assuming we re-sign Horford after declining his final contract year):
Smart/Pritchard
Brown/Richardson
Tatum/Hernangómez
Wiseman
Timelord/Horford
