The Celtics are hosting a noteworthy group of prospects for today’s pre-draft workout, per sources:

Sharife Cooper, Auburn
Jordan Hall, Texas A&M
Miles McBride, West Virginia
Kofi Cockburn, Illinois
Nah’Shon Hyland, VCU
Balsa Koprivica, Florida State

Not at computer today but this is an exciting workout group.

Cooper, if he was a little bigger and had shot better this past season he would be a top 8 pick. Elite facilitator

Hall, I mentioned before great combination of passing and size

McBride, physical defensive PG. He will carve out a rotational role in the NBA. His archetype is usually finds a spot in the NBA

Cockburn, huge physical 5. Old school big who would have been lottery pick in 1980-2000

Hyland, has the potential to be a spark plug scoring combo off the bench. One of the best shooters in the draft. Undersized for a SG but if rumors of 6’8ws are true is is similare size as Avery Bradely

Diving into this group a littler further I’ll be shocked if Hyland isn’t a 1st round pick. With a little work defensively he could be an ideal backcourt mate fir a jumbo initiator (Luka, Simmons, Lamelo, Lebron). Could be Seth Curry like but bigger and with length.

I looked up these guys today and watched video.

Sharife could pass the lights out but his shot was messed up, leans back on his jumper  39% from the field but does everything else well
McBride was a powerful guard and defense as CFAN38 noted.
Cockburn is a dinosaur in terms of C but the most impressive out the lot.  Physical, big and strong and a good rebounder to boot, not a modern C
Hyland's length really stood out to me.  He looks like he could grow more but very skinny.  Offensively he looks sound.   Ballhandling needs work

Now with us trading our pick  #16 this year it explains why were looking at a bunch of second round projected guys.

Here we come pick 45 right?

At 45 I think someone like a Aaron Henry or Yves Pons would be good picks

Older prospects. Above average versatile defenders. 3 pt shooting needs improvement. But good FT per

Henry has fantastic court vision

Pons is explosive/above the rim

The Cs usually start out the workout season with 2nd round guys or guys who back out of the draft and return to school. I do agree that the trading of the #16 puts the focus into the second round and the pick could very well be one of the guys the Cs have recently worked out.

Is TT worth a 1st for the right buyer?  Maybe somewhere in the 20's?

If the Cs still had the #16 he would be one of my guys at that pick. Now I will be watching the draft hoping for a trade up if he falls past 25. Wings with his size, length and perimeter shooting are so important in today's game.

TT is more likely to cost a 2nd to get rid of than fetch a 1st in return.

unlike Kemba, TT was an ironman this season putting up stats that were better than his pay -- particularly as the season was coming to a close.  He's valuable to the right team.  if it's a top contending team likely to have a late pick in the first round next season, he'd be worth it to that team.  he won't fetch a lottery first, but a late first is not unreasonable

I don't think Brad wants to bring more than 1 rookie into this team, so I doubt we get a first unless we sell our 2nd.

I'm not sure TT is worth a first to any teams besides those picking 22-30

DJ Stewart Jr Forward Mississippi st
Kai Jones Big Texas
Matt Hurt Forward Duke

Jones seems like a pre-trade target for #16,

Hurt could be an option at #45 but his defense in the NBA will be a major concern given his lack of length and footspeed.
