Give me Mike D’Antoni and Udoka as his #1 assistant, so that he can be groomed to take over in a few years.  Udoka was a long time assistant for the Spurs, so I would hope that he could bring an edge defensively, while Mike handles the offense. That would be ideal.

Not comfortable with first time head coaches when the C’s have two all-stars and are trying to win now.

Seriously??

D'antoni will turn Tatum into Melo part 2

Please no

Can anybody with Insider share which names Arnovitz mentions in this article?

anyone?
He lists 10 coaching prospects, and categorises them as:

Former players: Chauncey Billups, Malik Allen, Willie Green.
Renaissance coach: Darko Rajakovic.
The video room: Dan Craig.
The international ranks: Will Weaver.
The long-time assistant: Fred Vinson.
The college game: Patrick Ewing, Niele Ivey.
The minor leagues: Jason March.

And then lists 5 guys appearing on former lists: Darvin Ham, Johnnie Bryant, Will Hardy, Charles Lee, Wes Unseld Jr.

And lastly, lists the retreads: Jason Kidd, Kenny Atkinson, Mike D'Antoni, Dave Joerger and Mike Brown.

Of those, I would be happy with Ham, Joerger, Malik Allen, Bryant, Lee and Unseld Jr. The others I either do not want or don't know enough about.

Target #1 for me is Juwan Howard.

thank you

of those names I like Billups, Atkinson, and Joerger.

Malik Allen is interesting in that he's got some seasoning coaching under Spo, but is also a former player.
Ah yeah, Atkinson is someone I like too. Got a rough deal in Brooklyn.

Yeah, that's what appealed to me about Allen. Highly regarded, works under a good coach in Spo, is a former player, is African-American too. Similar reasons to why I want Juwan Howard, except Howard seems to have more talent and a bigger profile

I think Sam Cassell pushes all the right buttons.....at least for the next stage of the Celtics rebuild .

He is a high energy type of guy ,  great personality, but won’t back down when it comes to getting what he wants when he wants it out of his players .

Sam also may translate better with the higher up stars egos like Lue did Bron .....I think Sam is a much better coach than Lue though.

I ll go with Sam ......he will not allow players to tune him out like Stevens .

Virtually every coach gets tuned out eventually if they’re with the same group of players long enough.  Even if the players respect and like the coach — a different message is eventually needed.

Jeff Van Gundy. You want a tough team? His Knicks were one of the toughest in a historically tough era of NBA basketball. Those Knicks-Heat battles were brutal.

Unless you have a top player that completely buys in. Pop and Duncan in SA and Belichick with Brady. We need a coach that has the support of Tatum and Brown! When they buy in everyone else will follow.

I like what I know and have heard about Billups. The fact he and KG are besties is just a bonus

He was also accused of rape in the past and settled out of court with the accuser.

He's like the anti-Brad. Former player, history of criminal accusation, seems quite tough, African American. Everything that could be different is different

Nate McMillan is still only the interim coach in Atlanta. He's a good coach.

If the Hawks let McMillan get away they deserve to never have a winning season again.  He saved the jobs of everyone in that front office the last three months.

one thing is certain: in today’s environment the next C’s HC will not be a white male.
