I hope whoever we get to coach has enough balls to bring Kemba off the bench.

It certainly will be easier to do that with a new coach / new GM combo.  The guy who gave Kemba that contract is no longer around, and everybody understands Kemba would be gone already if his contract wasn't such an albatross.

Thinking outside the Box, what about Rondo?

Brad and Rondo  ...didnt work as coach and player

It wouldnt work as GM to Coaching

Wyc and Brad: dont  be harsh on Jays

Rondo: cant promise you that

Tbh I would love to have Rondo as the coach. He wouldnt mess around

Rondo would light a fire! Great basketball mind.

He is also kind of a d#%^#

True but he has a fire. We need fire!!!!
similar arguments were made about hiring bobby valentine for the Sox manager. the position of head coach requires a lot from a person. Rondo has glaring flaws.

This is a very important decision. No first time or college coaches.

We need someone whom Tatum and Brown respect and also someone who can make the most use out of their primes.

(Also, I have no idea if I used the whom/who correctly haha)
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

You bring in assists to help cover those. He's a leader, he's tough, he's smart, knows the game inside and out. I can't see Brad bringing him in and he's still playing but I wouldn't hate the choice at least not a first.. ;D

Mark Jackson wouldn't be a bad choice. Good with player development and can get his team to play hard.

https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/31467063/nba-coaching-candidates-billups-rajakovic-allen-other-top-names-league-insiders-buzzing-about

Can anybody with Insider share which names Arnovitz mentions in this article?

anyone?

There are a lot of names, and it's a long article.  He goes through categories of different paths to NBA head-coaching jobs -- NBA Star, long-time vet, long-time assistant, college coach, NBA coaching retread, G-League, and maybe 1-2 other paths.  I stopped reading when he said Patrick Ewing at Georgetown for his only example of a college coach, because I don't think anyone seriously is considering Ewing as an NBA head coach, and certainly not above a bunch of other college coaches so as to be the only one listed, so it made me doubt the rest of the list.

I would take seriously anything Arnovitz writes

I'd much rather have a first time or college guy than just another retread. It's one thing if a good former coach is available, but taking a bad coach that got fired elsewhere just because they've done it before is not the way to go.

An underrated aspect of Brad moving into the front office is that he isn't taking his assistants with him (like often happens when coaches leave to another team), so even if we bring in a first time head coach we can still have a lot of experience on the bench (although bringing in a very experienced assistant, like Ron Adams with Brad, wouldn't be a bad idea either)
I'm bitter.

Thanks, Liam!

Rondo

I'm sure he won't be the one, but, he's extremely intelligent, has run the floor from the point against top NBA teams for years and is prickly.....a sour puss....difficult, but he's been on NBA teams for a long time and if he was that "bad"?

Stevens has been an excellent coach and I think Rondo would be also.

Please don't bring in one of the guys who gets fired in 3 or 4 years. The Celtics have enough good players and brains to get us back to the finals.

God, I wonder who Red would want.

They were talking to John Havlicek many years ago and they asked him about how Red ran the team during big games.

(I won't remember it right, but this is what he said)

Havlicek..."so we're down to the Lakers by 5 points in Game six. It's early 4th quarter, Red calls time and we huddle...there's Tommy, Don Nelson, KC, Sam, Russell and the rest of the guys...Red says..."Ok, what do you want to do?" His plan was to make us come up with one...all those guys start to put together how we're gonna attack them and Red puffs on his cigar, didn't say a word...we beat them. Look at who was on that team. Look at all those NBA head coaches."
