HBO is developing a show about the showtime Lakers so there's going to be some Celtics involved. Michael Chikliss ("The Shield") has been cast as Red Auerbach and Bo Burnham ("Promising Young Woman") has been cast as Larry Bird.

Chikliss is perfect for Auerbach, love it.

And I kind of love Burnham as Bird, too. Burnham is tall and awkward and doesn't read "athlete" in the slightest but neither did Bird. Bird was forever proving people wrong. Burnham isn't as tall as Bird was but he's taller than the guy they cast as Magic (according to google), so I'm fine with that.

Should be interesting. There's a bigger breakdown of the cast here:

Is this show supposed to make Celtics be the bad guys and Lakers be the good guys ? I mean it’s Hollywood and their hometown team

I would expect so.  The focus is on the Showtime Lakers.

I’m sure a lot of Laker fans are working on it but Adam McKay grew up in Worster and Philly so I don’t know what his relationship to the Lakers is.

He’s also got a new podcast about why so many nba players died in the 80’s and 90’s that I’m kind of fascinated by.

I know its based on Jeff Pearlman's book so its not something that just popped up out of nowhere.  McKay is involved in a ton of projects.   I know he called in a dream project due the the nature of the 80s time period.
