James Young has been really impressive lately. If he can get confidence and start to drive the lane like he did in college lookout.
I'd like to see him do that.  To date he's been basically a 5th offensive option just hanging out on the perimeter in case whatever play they're running doesn't work. He seems to have more confidence now and his D has really picked up.  Hopefully driving the lane and being more involved offensively will be the next step in his development.

With this win, the Celtics can now play .500 ball the rest of season and still reach 50 wins.  This is a really good team.
and bradley and brown are injured. should be a good second half to the season.

What's the actual number of games that we've played with our full rotation? It wouldn't surprise me in the least if we were missing at least one top-8 rotation member for greater than 75% of our games this season so far.

Our full rotation?  Really low.  We've only played 21 out of 56 with our opening day starting lineup healthy.  But Smart and Olynyk missed the first few games as well, so under 20.

didn't watch the game, seems young is even playing better than Rozier now. hes like a catch and shoot wing that plays defense and rebounds.

Yeah, if he actually starts to continue to play this well and be a decent bench player, he's a much better fit with Smart than Rozier. He's a good rebounder for his position, too. You can tell he has a knack for where the ball is going to come off the rim.

Young plays within himself and doesn't force a thing. Plus, he seems a lot more engaged on the defensive end and is not as lost off the ball or during screens. Him playing sound basketball and within the team structure, is the polar opposite to Green who has a knack of making several head scratching plays a game.

Marcus Smart arrived in Boston, twisted his ankle, played in Maine, wacked you know who you know where, got suspended for it and has played in every important minute of every game since.

We all love his game, but, we aren't the decision makers on when he plays. Stevens has him on the floor at the end of every game because that is when his team mates need him most and his head coach doesn't have anyone better to put in his place.

On draft night Grousbeck stated (paraphrase)...."Danny just drafted a guy who is an instigator, we need a player like that."

Amen

Because it is not always the best strategy to start your best players. You need some depth on your bench too.

Because of matchups?

Because of pairings?

Because the coaches actually know best.

It's not who starts, but who ends.

Great game to see live except for a few defensive lapses.

Biggest cheers were for the SB51 replay montage on the Jumbotron, then the cam zoomed into Bob Kraft. Everybody loves the Pats!

I really like Saric.  He looks like a young Larry Bird.

Dario Saric last 5 games 53 percent shooting + 37 percent three point shooting + 92 percent free throw shooting + 21 points + 1.2 steals + 2.2 assists + 7.4 rebounds

I think we should try trading Crowder and Bradley for Saric and Noel.  Then we can keep starting Smart and Jaylen.

I don't know why Stevens is wedded to Amir as a starter.  Maybe he's afraid Kelly would get lost playing mostly with IT.  Maybe he thinks we need offense in the second unit.  Maybe promises were made to Amir about playing time and to Al about playing with a traditional big.  Who can say?

But if you're going to rip a coach when things don't work, you have to credit them when things do work.  Look at teams like Detroit, Orlando or Milwaukee who play below their talent level and sometimes have done so for years.  Without a real franchise player (no offense, IT), Stevens has the Cs in position to possibly have the best record in the East.  That's amazing.

Love your posts Mike, but at what point does IT become a franchise player? He brings it night in and night out. He is a great face for the organization. He recruits for the organization. At some point he has to be the franchise, no?

Last 5 games he is averaging 16/4/4 with 4 steals on 53% shooting.
