This deal ain't getting done without Tatum in the package.

Holding out on Tatum is just playing hardball OR Ainge isn't serious about making a deal happen unless it's a super favorable one for the Celts.

Hows jaylen brown feeling right about now?
I dont think Brown plus future assets can get it done unless its a three way where AD still ends up in LA and Boston gets something different coming back as Brown's replacement...its obvious that Danny wants to hold on to Smart as well as Tatum, which probably mean no AD  and no Kyrie but instead we will get Capela or Ingram or something...heck what do I know?

I prefer keeping Tatum. Like his ceiling better. Would give them all the picks they wanted to leave him out.

I am just the opposite.  I think Brown fits way better with AD.

Same here. I don’t think Tatum and Hayward can play the 2/3 together, but Brown abd Hayward would thrive in that pairing together.

I think before some of us get excited

lets not forget Woj has never been accurate relating to Celtics business

even Hayward trade was first announced by Chris Haynes

outside of Celts news and draft stuff I believe Woj, thats it
Outside of the Hayward news I feel like woj has been accurate

on what news relating to the Celts?

I’m not sure how the deal gets done without Smart’s salary.

Lol Haynes wasn't even accurate on the Hayward news. He prematurely announced the signing before Hayward even decided. Fortunately for him, Hayward did choose us, but if he had announced he'd stay or go elsewhere, then Haynes' reputation would have taken a massive hit.

Not the point.  Tatum leaves the Celts not totally gutted if AD walks.  Danny wont risk the whole thing

Looks like my guess is correct

Woj on ESPN SportsCenter (TV) live right now:

- Boston's offer is very fluid built around Brown and future trade draft picks

- Hope is to lure Kyrie back by parterning him up with AD

- Tatum is not in the offer but if Ainge makes him available deal could be done

- Griffin is very close to Danny Ainge, they worked together in Phoenix

Wow, if this is true it just shows you the value of our assets compared to theirs. That Brown (the 2016 #3 pick) and some future draft picks (likely including the Memphis pick) is looked at as similar value to Ingram (2016 #2 pick), Ball (2017 # 2 pick), and this year’s #4 pick is incredible. The fact that including Tatum would also be a deal-maker for NOLA shows that he is also hugely valued across the league.

Honestly, while Tatum might have the higher ceiling of the two, I think Brown fits better at the 2 with this group and will likely cost less long-term. If including Tatum meant you could likely keep both Brown AND the Memphis pick, I think you have to do it, especially if you think that getting AD would lead to Kyrie re-signing. A lineup of Kyrie, Brown, Hayward, Horford, abd Davis would be scary.

That said, I do wonder if Kyrie’s relationship with Tatum matters here, as Kyrie seems closer to Tatum than Brown, with both being Dukies.

As recently as March, Kyrie talked about them playing together "for years." I think it matters somewhat, but I'd bet if asked Kyrie who'd he'd rather play with, AD is the guy.

He badly whiffed on the Horford signing, too. He had Horford signing elsewhere minutes before it broke that he was coming here lol

Funnily enough, all of LAkErS Twitter seems to believe that Woj is a shill of Ainge and serves only to benefit Boston lol  ::) Lakers Twitter is toxic, especially now with most of them claiming that LA somehow has the leverage in trade negotiations now  ::)

I have the slight suspicion the third team is philly.
Ben Simmons is an all star and can probably be acquired for Ball , Kuzma and 4 pick. Or maybe lakers can promise not to go after butler. I bet this is the hold up. I doubt Danny offers more than Tatum and 20 and 22

Ben is a Rich Paul client. I don't think he's going to NOLA.

As always, Lakers in the mix and with the advantage.  Of course they get the lottery bump.  Of course they get the AD assurance of a long-term commitment.  Of course they can go all out while other teams have to worry about a 1 year rental.

I say, as always, that the dream job in all of sports is the Lakers GM position.  You can be a complete fool, help lead the team to disarray and failure -- and still they are in contention every year for top 10 players.  The C's, for only a brief shining moment, were looking to be closer to contention than LAL.  And it all reverses in a flash, as inevitably it always will.

Yeah I don't see anyway AD gets traded to the C's without Tatum in the deal. NOLA knows who they want and if they don't get it they'll just take the godfather offer the Lakers will throw at them. Lakers are truly the desperate ones in this whole thing.

Get it done without giving up draft picks, and a chance of Irving signing on with his buddy AD and none of the young guys who he did not get along with (Tatum, Brown and Rozier):

http://tradenba.com/trades/HyP4KSwVN

Use the draft picks or trade one or more for future draft pick(s) to reload for the future, whether AD sticks around long-term or bolts .

Use the MLE, re-sign Morris and Theis, and sign vet minimums for ring-chasers in order to rebuild our bench this year:

1) Irving - Or match the best offer for Rozier if Irving bolts

2) Smart - The glue guy for now and beyond

3) Hayward - Perhaps he pulls a Paul George recovery

4) Horford - Davis will learn a lot from him

5) Davis - Whether Irving or Rozier is the PG, this would be the best team of AD’s career

6) Morris - Will re-sign if we offer the most and make him the 6th man

Re-sign Theis
Re-sign Wanamaker
MLE for a big man, preferably one who can play both 5 or 4
Vets willing to take the min for a shot at a ring
Rookies - Watch and learn

Worst-case: If AD bolts and Irving is not here this time next year, we still have the draft picks, and probably move Hayward and Horford for picks, with a full rebuild (Smart and Rozier are young enough to be a part of said rebuild).

Best-case: Rule the East the next 5-10 years.

Get. It. Done.

Simmons is about to get overpaid by a large amount. I would think he’s one of the easiest to acquire all star.
