The Boston Celtics sending Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Jason Terry to Brooklyn Nets for Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks, Kris Joseph, Keith Bogans, first-round picks in 2014, 2016, 2017 (via the right to swap picks) and 2018.

Three of those draft picks which eventually became Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and eventually Kemba Walker via Kyrie Irving

While Brooklyn gave up all that for a second-round playoff exit. Don't get me wrong though, I was pulling for PP34 and KG to beat Miami Heat that year in the playoffs

Another heist from back in the day:

As we all remember, the Celtics traded the draft rights to the 1st pick (Joe Barry Carroll) and the 13th pick (Rickey Brown) in the 1980 NBA Draft for center Robert Parish and the rights to the 3rd pick in the NBA draft (Kevin McHale).

Tatum and Brown should both have exceptional careers.  Maybe not as long as Parish but equal to if not better than Mchale.

Kemba Walker did not come via Kyrie Irving. What irks me the most about the Kyrie Irving deal witht the Celtics is that it effectively watered down the heist by sending one of the draft picks back to Nets gratis via Irving. And this is not talked about enough.

I'd wage that whatever Danny 'blew' in giving up assets for Kyrie and subsequently losing him for nothing are at least equaled by the heist he pulled in getting Tatum.  Can't win 'em all.

That's no small task though. McHale (7x All Star, 1x All NBA 1st team, 3x All Def 1st, 3x All Def 2nd, 2x Sixth Man).

I agree, but still hate having to give back what would have been an even greater heist.

I don't disagree.  Maybe not Brown but Tatum may be as good or better!

He kind-of did, though. If we had held on to Kyrie Irving, we would not have been able to sign Kemba. I think it makes perfect sense to think of the deal as IT/Crowder/Zizic/BKN pick for Kyrie(2 years)/Kemba(post-Kyrie). Sure, we lost Rozier - so feel free to include him in the deal if you'd like - but I think of him more in the same vein as Olynyk and Sullinger - played through their rookie contracts and moved on from them after another team overpaid. It was one of the great pivots in GM history - All-NBA PG leaves in FA and Danny finds a way to sign another All-NBA PG without missing a beat.

We also shouldn't forget to include Romeo in the deal. I understand he isn't as exciting as Tatum/Brown/Kemba, but he certainly has plenty of potential.
